It's insane. The markets are WAY over reacting. Worst case scenario, everyone in the US gets covid-19 and 1% of the population dies or 3.3 million people(most of them very old, retired and were probably going to die within a few years anyway) How will those 1% really affect the economy? Certainly not the near 30% the market is already priced in for.
You're missing the point.
Again, it's not about dying but catching the disease and/or passing it on. It kills old people and the immunodeficient. What if you catch it, pass it on and it ends up killing a family member? Are you completely okay with it?
Even if not, would you want to suffer through it in some overcrowded hospital ward for weeks?
Result is that people will avoid crowded areas. Would you be able to relax on a ship cruise with the current situation? Probably not. So why would you take the cruise in the first place?
