Ask jem/gnus about his plan back at the beginning to lock down all of America's vulnerable, pre-existing conditions, elderly etc.
This is his solution, you just 'protect' everyone at risk while having all the young and healthy carry a out their business. Except.. He has never explained how one would do that because it would require magic. Its been explained to him over and over that everyone knows the ideal but making it happen without causing mass infections in these (what? Hotels, camps in the desert?) and causing many with dementia to suffer excruciating problems, splitting families.. A millions little things.
He can't explain how it could be done and just ignores the practical implementation so he can stay in 'you just...' fantasy land. Any project manager would laugh him out of the room.
Jem wanted to do all of that back in April/May before any of what we have learned since then.
So a magical fix and stamping his feet and throwing tantrums when you say OK gnus, detail the plan.
1/3 of the population have an underlying medical condition in which many do not realize its there or think its no biggie (e.g. over-weight, borderline diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease) and go about their life as normal as anyone else or on medication for treatment...
Many of then are not elderly.
Simply, locking down or protecting the elderly or those they know that has an underlying medical condition is not the answer because they will leave the rest open for exposure especially those that were screaming to try
herd immunity via letting it rip threw society.
The United States, Canada and many developed countries had access to the same technology and Pandemic procedures that New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea has access to plus they are countries that had leaders that took it very serious in January and February...
New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea did not have leaders that were downplaying it and did
not "discourage" face mask wearing nor make it a political statement that it wearing a face mask takes away your freedom.
Ironically, the United States was so worry about wearing a damn face mask and loss of freedom...they still lockdown the damn country along with throwing out the Pandemic pan...literally tossed it in the trash bin.
As each day of inaction went by...waiting for the WHO to declare something / anything...
other countries didn't wait...they took action. They did that
without locking down their economy.
Those countries are the
models of what to do in a Pandemic...
not Sweden.
All the bullshit I see in these threads about Sweden is the primary things I see in North America by many in the way they have been approaching this Pandemic and then bitching later about it when someone ask them to wear a face mask, social distancing, wash hands.
Sure, all the protesting, riots and rallies across North America didn't help. It was a social conscience of people not caring about that stranger standing next to them and then they willingly took the infection back home without knowing it...
To those in their families. The virus then attacked those that were elderly or had an underlying medical condition...a small percentage...now
+282k dead and many others (millions) lost their jobs, hospitals reaching over-capacity levels...
- Oh wait, there's a vaccine coming...it will fix everything and bring back the dead. Maybe its true, Covid-19 is just like the common cold (Buy1Sell2, Turveyd, Fortuneteller and many others liking the statements...some do not live in North America...insane).
- Other idiots that do wear a face mask...they pull down their face mask to have a conversation with the person standing next them, eat in a restaurant or drink at a bar...complaining later that face masks don't work. What the fuck ?
Yet, the declaring of
herd immunity in Sweden / United States by a hand full of these types of individuals here at Elitetrader.com (I didn't see it anywhere else in the media) that were advocating herd immunity and now they show up once in awhile to continue their nonsense about "Sweden is the Model" for the rest of the world when the best countries to model in this Pandemic has clearly been New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea seems to be ignored by them.
