Indeed I have referenced John William's site on a number of occasions without taking a particular stand on the validity of his method. which amounts to a simple adjustment of the official data. It's controversial and he has attempted to answer the controversy. You'll have to be your own judge and jury on that one. What's not controversial however is factual: The method of computing inflation has been changed a number of times and always the net effect has been to reduce the inflation rate. Whether hedonics should be used is controversial. Its use does reduce significantly entitlement COLAs.Aren't you the same loon who references Shadow Stats? Or is that accepted reading according to your master list of "fake news" sites?
The main place I used shadowstats was to show that if you use Williams inflation numbers, rather BLS numbers, college tuition has not gone up above the inflation rate at all, but just kept pace with it. That coupled with reduction in state and local tuition subsidies would explain nicely why so many of the less well endowed minor state universities are struggling financially despite tuition hikes.
I don't have a list of fake news sites, but I'd be happy to consider your list. Why not give it to us?
