Immortality?!

Quote from stu:

Yes, choose to live forever. When the disease known as death is conquered THEN we're talking. That's when true progress will be made.
I think put simply that the disposing of raw talent in its prime is one of the things nature will try to correct. The Human Genome Project is a massive step to enable extreme longevity. It is the way to go.
Not sure about cryonics GG, I think freezing irreparably damages tissue. It may have beeen a hope of the past when less was known about the possibilities of genetic engineering. Anyway who wants a brain like a defrosted tomato... (that is apart from the religious freaks who insist on using theirs like one)

I hope to live forever then I can call in the lifetime guarantee on my Longines watch

Well done Katrina, not sure it’s a good idea to rattle Thunder’s cage though
:D

You're kidding, right ??

Dream on! Man will never conqueur death! "The wages of sin are death" Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

i like movies like the 'highlander' series, connor mc cloud .. scottish highlands like my forebears, colquohoun...... yes a fear of death presses home a desire to make every second count ... no matter how much $$ you make it won't extend your life, beyond what health care can do for you.

makes it important to value every second w/family/friends... michael landon's final interviews are things that i think about .. the guy was a good person, taken early, he spoke in his video, last address to fans, about need to really Really make every day important, to count..

where you live is important too. I've lived in #hitty as well as superb neighborhoods, like now, and that makes a huge difference. reading tony robbins' stuff (awaken the giant within etc) every few months helps too. it works if you let it.

great h. stern quote too, above ...and drive by a boneyard, and it makes you realize, ah This counts, ain't no dress rehearsal folks, make every hour worthwhile.

no matter what happens after death, and that's a debate, it won't be the same as the life we're all enjoying now. so, we need to make it count. every dang second. tick tick tick.

fwiw, my having a new small child, daughter, in my life, helps a lot, because you can rediscover a more light-hearted (less uptight like my norm lol) way of life, and rediscover play, laughter, those things that are easy to lose track of along the path..

Nonetheless, every man faces the grave and the uncertainty(for the unbeliever) it offers. At that point in time(death), memories mean absolutely nothing. However, the way that man lived his life will all of sudden be his top priority. Laugh at me now, yet understand me later.

Quote from Katrina Johns:

guys what makes life worth living is THINKING! Thinking is the be all and the end all, without it life isn't worth living another moment.

Unfortunately, you're doing a very bad job of it.

hey thanks Kat! i never realised Twain had so many intelligent things to say!

i agree, what i wouldn't give to see life in a thousand years time! oh mAN that would be sooooo cool!

how long do you think humanity is gonna last for? another 5000 years? another 20,000? another 1million? MORE? FOREVER?

it's gotta be millions of years. gotta be. i mean, think about it, the dinosaurs pulled it off, why not us?

i find it mind boggling to think about really. sucks i'm not gonna be around to see it! (nice one Gawd! )

how's it gonna end? i doubt we'd be dumb enough to nuke each other out of existance... shit, i think even the concept of war itself will be pretty much eradicated, definitely within the next 1000 years . also by that time i'm prety sure religion's just gonna be sidebar of antiquity. so we're not gonna have any of these muslim fuckos disturbing the balance..

some interstellar catastrophe? that seems the most imminent danger. hopefully we find some way of dealing with any errant asteroids by then. what a pity it would be for humanity to get cut short by a fluke incident like that.

we'd also better find some other planet to inhabit. surely we could find a way to populate the moon and mars. beyond? who knows. we'd need some pretty zippy quick travelling aparatus if we're gonna traverse galactic distances..cos we're also gonna need a new solar system after our sun buys the farm..

imagine we survive right up till the time the universe undegoes heat death! argghhh! imagine living and knowing it's all gonna come to end (i think we'd have some pretty accurate measuring devices by then that could predict the exact minute). i hope someone gets to read this at that time! he could say, "daniel_m you old sea dog, we made it buddy!"

Man, you're out there. Even if you don't believe in God, man can't survive too much longer since our resources are quickly running out as well as an eroding(man-made) environment. The ozone will allow men to become toast in a few years.

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:
and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;
but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die...?
