Immigration--Elites ignore voters

It's really nuts in california. The illegal immigrant ass kissing has reached fever pitch. Gov. Dufus bankrupted the state then borrowed his way out, for one year, no cuts in spending, just a one year reprieve. Then he granted drivers licenses to illegals and free community college tuition, on top of all education and health benefits that illegals get which bankrupted the state in the first place. Legal residents meanwhile got their community college tuition costs jacked way up, so much that minorities have dropped out at a record rate. Businesses are leaving in droves due to high cost of disability insurance and energy, again because of Gov dufus's policies and also some are going bust because the state takes a year to pay subcontractors. The state does not delay payment to any public employees, no, never that, it bankrupts the private sector subcontractors though. The Lieutenant Governor is a member of a racist, pro-Mexican political group and wants to go back to bilingual education, which really means keeping Mexicans from speaking english, they might become prosperous and flee the party if that happened.

IMHO, it will not change much in the future, California is being turned into a Mexico by the Democrats. I actually think the Democrats are happy with all this disaster, the environmentalists are happy because businesses are bad for the environment, the politicians are happy because they have an endless supply of voters that will vote Democratic no matter what and they will export plenty of them to the rest of the states, watch out, here they come. Nobody is going to fix this either, the Democrats give money to Republican candidates that will split the vote, they did that last election and this year Tom McClintock is screwing things up for Arnold, I don't know where his money comes from.

The best and probably only cure for this would be for the state to go into complete collapse, so bad that the public sector could not survive, could never pay their debt, could not pay their employees, no jobs for illegals or anybody else. As a trader I could live with that, it would be a great time to grab up the best real estate.

If you stop the uneducated manual labour coming in from other countries, who is going to do the jobs that Americans no longer want to do? You will not find many white or black Americans working long hours in the hot sunshine harvesting fruit, or cleaning buildings at night for relatively low wages. Just get yours and go live among the well-to-do. Then you'll see the value of immigrant labour when you want your house cleaned.
 
The fed does not want to slow immigration,and most people dont seem to understand how much the big picture is affected the constant flow of new consumers.I would like to emphasize I am NOTagainst immigration.However, I do think the annual amount of immigrants should be controled,so they can be assimmilated into society without adversly affecting the supply and demand balances.When hundreds of thousands of people were loosing their jobs,Bush wanted to raise the amout of H1 visas to 200,000 from 100,000.In Calif. 25% of houses sold are sold to immigrants, not to mention everything that goes in a house.Dont forget all the cars in front of those houses.I am not sure how much this consumer group contributes to the overall economy,but it may be the difference between not good enough and good.I would say you could just about gaurantee the fed wont tighten the immigration limits anytime soon.There are hundreds of thousands of retired people that collect social security even though they have never worked in the US.I know an illegal alien who needed and received open heart surgery for free. Florida has the dry foot policy.This is the other side of the immigrant equation. As far as the fed is concerned, they're in a win, win situation.Consumers to contribute to GDP growth, and a steady stream of government dependants.Dont forget that immigrants will also create a whole boatload of new little taxpayers.Again, cant see the fed changing policy.

So you are saying that it is the relatively wealthy that want cheap labor that are really driving immigration policy> The business owner who doesn't want to pay living wages. The well-to-do suburbanite who doesn't want to pay a fair day's wage for a domestic?

Is that what you are saying?

Large employers, like maybe Wal-Mart, who don't want to compete with the farm down the road paying a god wage?

If so, you're right.

You see, if you pay the domestic a living wage, you have to pay the clerk even more, and the bookkeeper, even more than that, and the Executive secretary even more than that! And that money has to come from somewhere...like the pockets of owners and executives...and we can't have that, now can we?

The people at the top of the ladder need the poor slobs at the bottom of the ladder, and the more the better.

My dear young man, I know that you mean well, but...

Florida does not have a "wet foot" policy for illegal immigrants. It's the Federal Government's policy - and applies ONLY to Cuban immigrants. It would be the same they arrived in Maine.

P.S. May I assume that you did your duty and reported that illegal that you have personal knowledge of who recieved that heart by-pass operation at taxpayer expence?

Many poor/low income join long lines in their country to get a U.S. visa that will allow them to enter America. They send back billions $ to their home countries to family and to buy land and homes for their retirement. Many are thrifty and goal oriented. Americans import women (legally) from overseas to be household help. There are several types of visas that allow foreigners to enter the U.S. for employment. Foreign teachers, nurses, physicians, engineers, computer specialists, etc. are hot imports into the U.S. The amount of money they are paid has to do with the type of work and supply-demand. U.S. was scooping up caribbean nurses last year with offers of better wages. At least one caribbean country had to recruit nurses from Cuba to pick up the slack that the American recruiting caused.
That's how it works. Globalization. If I want your people I make them a better offer, give them a resident permit and they move to my country. You'll be seeing more of that in the future with the free trade area that's to kick in 2004 with the U.S., Canada, Mexico, caribbean, central and south america. It will be a huge single market with the free flow of goods and capital between member countries, and the transfer of technology and more movement of people accross borders. That's how the EU (european union) started.
 
What reid did not make clear is that the "imported" labor is offered more than they get at home, but usually far less than what an American worker would demand. You see when George W talks about leveling the playing field, he doesn't mean bringing 3rd World wages up to our level, he means driving ours down to their's.

Now I am sure that that doesn't really bother you, since you don't think that your job is one that will be affected - but don't you fret, they're working on that, it won't be long.

You know the thing that bugs me. I'm told that foreign workers are willing to take less, and it's only fair to the shareholders. But I'll bet foreign executives would also work for less - guess no one thought about that.
 
Persons working illegally in America sometimes work for what they can get - usually under the table money. It's their choice to be in America illegally. They keep low and hope someday somehow to become legal. When they are discovered they are deported back to their own country. Legal immigrants will refuse to work for less than the minimum wage. They go for better paying jobs and usually do far better here than they did back in their homeland. They aquire new skills and new knowledge and achieve a better standard of living. This includes the household helpers, N.Y. cab drivers, factory workers assemblying auto parts and computers, etc.
No doubt some work on Wall Street and some are daytraders.
Remember: Stocks go up every day. The trick is to tell which ones are likely to go up. Then you have it made. Good luck.
