Illinois set to pass Forced Confiscation of All Semiautos

Quote from Tsing Tao:

So it's ok for a felon to have their rights trampled but not someone mentally insane.

I didn't say anything about the effectiveness of said gun checks, just that they're should be some. Having those in place will be the concession I'm willing to make.
You're not quite being intellectually honest here are you Tsing?

Or did I misread your intent?
Quote from Tsing Tao:

If she chooses to live with a felon or has the misfortune to have someone in her household classified as mentally ill, then yes. I am ok with it. If she needs protection, then she should save her money and spend it on a nice security system, dog and taser.

Or limit her to a shotgun.

Quote from futurecurrents:

I disagree. A semi-auto shotgun is a better weapon. Keeping one under the bed with a trigger lock is easy. Women can handle a shotgun just as easily as a handgun, if they can't maybe they shouldn't have either.
So the guy that wants to ban semi-automatic rifles is okay with semi-automatic shotguns?

I guess that makes sense in the hypocritical world of an AGW advocacy nut who makes his living selling HAC systems.

Is this about your 4,000th illogical post here on ET? Keep up the good work kid but maybe you should back off on the freon sniffing.

Quote from CaptainObvious:

I would say it will never happen, but then it is Illinois we're talking about. I think it's a good thing that the heavy hand of government is really starting to show itself in all areas of our life. Until it touches everybody the general population will just go along. The unwashed masses need to see that rule under the Dear Leader isn't going to be the panacea they were hoping for.
=========== I hope it does not pass,, probably will not;
but it would be interesting to see who is stupid enough to obey an illegal order.

Quote from Lucrum:

How about a ban on lever action 30-30 rifles?

You DO want to ban RedDukes 9mm handgun.

I think it was the publix guy that wants a total gun ban.

Redduke and futurecurrents only want to ban other people's property, not their own.

I already made a post, that my original thoughts on the subject were wrong. Once I learned more, I changed my mind.

Ban will only work, if it is an outright ban, and such ban has zero chance of passing.

Instead of banning something, the better idea would be limiting the access for mentally ill and felons. This would include making a mandatory background check for every purchase even at gun shows. This will also slow down straw purchases.

The felon who shot 2 firefighters, did not have any means to buy it on black market, instead his neighbor bought it for him. If the background check law was in place, she would have been made aware that selling or giving a gun to someone without passing an background check is a felony, and it would most probably deter her.

+1

Quote from Tsing Tao:

Hand guns are much better for home defense. Shotguns have all sorts of issues navigating corners and tight spaces in homes. Yes, nothing beats the sound of one loading to scare someone shitless, but a hand gun is better designed for close quarter and tight space combat.

And don't be a fucking idiot and link handguns to the reasons there are dead kids and classrooms. You just make yourself sound like an imbecile.

Exactly, why hand guns, especially for women, offer a much better protection. Most of the time, house is where the weapon would be needed for law abiding citizens.

Quote from Lucrum:

RedDuke, you paying attention? This is one of your fellow gun control advocates.
You may want to reconsider whose team you want to be on.

It might make sense to him, and others like him, but it won't happen.

I am definitely on the team of people who support 2nd amendment.

I am against sale of weapons without background checks.

I don't understand what you're asking me.
