Where there is a market there will be someone to feed that market. Your ban will remove handguns from most law biding citizens, criminals will ignore the law completely, and the pissed off husband will blast his wife with a shotgun instead of a pistol. That would certainly be a violation of their civil rights IMHO.
now of course the felon is a separate case and having a firearm in the Home could pose a risk for the felons violation with risk to "HIS" PROSECUTION"

I disagree. A semi-auto shotgun is a better weapon. Keeping one under the bed with a trigger lock is easy. Women can handle a shotgun just as easily as a handgun, if they can't maybe they shouldn't have either. They're just as likely to shoot themselves. My 15 yo daughter has shot a shotgun and an M1 and had no problem with either, and she's a girly girl.
Banning handguns makes lots of sense. Handguns are easily concealed and are the first choice for someone trying to sneak a gun into someplace and start shooting people. Carrying a shotgun tends to get noticed.
The only reason gun-nuts don't want handguns and assault weapons banned is because they like their toys. Not some noble adherence to "freedom" or the constitution. Their arrested-development childishness and paranoia is no reason to have to endure classrooms full of dead kids or massacres in theaters.
Hand guns are much better for home defense. Shotguns have all sorts of issues navigating corners and tight spaces in homes. Yes, nothing beats the sound of one loading to scare someone shitless, but a hand gun is better designed for close quarter and tight space combat.
And don't be a fucking idiot and link handguns to the reasons there are dead kids and classrooms. You just make yourself sound like an imbecile.
