Illinois Halts Payments to Dentists, Threatens to Stop All Health Insurance Payments

According to the ET-Politics-&-Religion-version of supply-side economics, if Illinois cuts taxes to zero, revenue will go to infinity.
Lol, that's funny and I know where you're coming from. Your repeated and lengthy attempts to explain Morning in America have fallen on deaf ears.

But to be fair, even the looniest here have admitted some taxation is necessary. (So they're willing to give up some potential revenue.)
: )

Major strawman...On the other hand, I'd love to hear how a libertarian such as yourself would address the problems of high tax states, in light of the fact that all residents are free to move to other low tax states. The numbers speak louder than words...Illinois, more specifically Cook County, has experienced a mass exodus of taxpayers (and general population loss), even though much of that is masked by the influx of "takers" and immigrants. IOW, tax base is shrinking while the payouts are exploding. The pension system is beyond busted and no amount of increased tax burden will save it. Of course, that doesn't mean they will give up. Instead they will continue to tax and tax and ultimately it will result in some form of bankruptcy.
You've pretty well summarized the problem. Didn't you and I have a similar discussion before? It's a combination of shifting demographics leading to an imbalance of takers to payers and positive feedback that makes the imbalance worsen as the payers die or move away to avoid higher taxes and/or possibly what they see as deteriorating social conditions. Exacerbating factors might be: a. a disconnect between election politics and fiscal management exigences; b. faulty ROI assumptions that don't get timely adjusted because of politics; c. The U.S. medical Cartel that continues to increase its fraction of U.S. G.D.P.. This negatively affects most locales in the U.S. and plays a major, but often veiled, role in increasing benefit costs for public employees as well as being the number one cause of personal bankruptcies. The Cartel, which includes the insurance industry, encompasses many practices that, if not federally protected via regulatory capture, would come under the heading of corruption and graft; d. Regulatory capture, in general, that raises costs and hampers competition without significant, compensatory benefit; e. government corruption and graft (likely minor compared to other issues, but always major in the minds of the public and those posting on internet fora).

What to do about it? The neo-libertarian, I suppose, buys guns, ammunition and can goods, and puts up fences, or else relocates to Idaho or Wyoming and waits for the government to show up in tanks. Sadly, there are too few true Libertarians, such as myself, to be able to affect much in the way of political solutions; yet we know what they are! Everything we do and vote for is a compromise with an eye to not making matters worse, and hopefully somewhat better both with respect to increasing personal freedom and government efficiency. We aren't making much progress, and we have suffered huge setbacks since 2001.

Speaking of moving to the sticks and waiting for government to show up... what's the latest on Jade Helm? Is it over? Do we still have Texas?

why put out strawman bullshit? you are better than that...

dynamic systems work on curves...
if you understood economics 101.

I realize it probably takes about a 120 IQ to understand systems... which explains why so few on the left understand the following:

sometimes you have to lower prices to sell more and gain a higher net profit whether it be taxes or red dresses.

We also know... with enough demand you can raise the prices of your red dresses and gain more net profit.

its a curve... we get it... apparently you and most of the left do not get it.

to take this one step further...

if the federal reserve keeps electronically printing trillions of dollars... government revenues could stay the same as you lower taxes to track with the inflation caused by the fed (minus some multiplier) .
(see what I mean by dynamic systems)

I suggest we cap govt spending and reduce income taxes by 10% a year... until inflation... balances the budget.

(note there are other sources of revenues besides income taxes.)

Supposedly we do, but if you plan to cross the State line on foot it might be a good idea to take a mine sweeper with you.

But the real crooks are still operating with impunity.

I notice that Piezoe, the libertarian, decided that only the two imprisoned Republic governors are responsible. Yep, business as usual.
Did I mention Republican governors? You must have read my mind.*

Since we have drifted somewhat from the original thread title; what was it any way?

I should like to draw your attention to the seemingly endless opportunities for humor that American Presidential Campaigns offer up. Apparently the Donald has tried to trade mark "Make America Great Again" :D:D

Now those of you old enough to remember Reagan's campaign will recognize this slogan as Reagan's. When I heard this wafting from the Trumpian camp, I immediately knew I'd heard it before. It wasn't long before I realized much of The Donald's rah rah campaign rhetoric is a near carbon copy of the Reagan rah rah rhetoric . This is the stuff that Joe the plumber, and other non-reader, non-socialist, non-intellectual, non-lefties want to dive into and rub all over their bodies like hog fat or jello. They'll never catch on that this is Reagan re-hatched.

The Donald couldn't possibly have come up with stuff this good on his own. He must have hired some Madison Avenue tacticians. Contrast Trump's rhetoric with the hapless Bernie's. Bernie is going around telling us what's wrong with us. Only book worms, introverts, and socialists want to hear that crap. Joe the Plumber hates that crap. Joe wants to hear how great everything is going to be once the Donald is in the Big (White) House fighting wetback murderers and rapists streaming across our borders to steal our $7.25/hr jobs and breed our women.

This is no cane pole catfish campaign; this is Orvis and Brown Trout; a very savvy, and very expensively choreographed campaign. The Donald must be dead serious. He really wants to be President. It is not, and he is not, a joke anymore. He wouldn't have spent the money on high powered advertising consultants if he wasn't dead serious. And he wouldn't have signed that pledge until he was sure that by doing it he could put the entire Republican party in his hip pocket, and at the same time commit all those other weasels to supporting him, or at least keep quiet once he's been anointed; yet another great decision by "his people". Hats off to the Trump team. You hired the best Donald!!! All that remains is for us on the sidelines behind the velvet rope to see if "his people" can arrange a meet and great with the Pope. Self confessed "Bible lover" Donald Trump could end up double anointed. Now wouldn't that be amazing! And don't forget, from now on it's not "Make America Great Again". It's "Make America Great Again"™.

wow does that miss the point...

its that he not an establishment moron who listens to his handlers and and only utters non insulting pc lies.

trump had the brains to see that Bratt beat Cantor from out of nowhere with an anti illegal immigration campaign.

Its turns out that seems to be a litmus test.

Can the candidate say he is against illegal immigration?
Apparently he or she can't say they are against illegal immigration if he or she expects establishment money.

Its ironic... that the establishment's requirement is the the one thing that will prevent a candidates election.
I expect the establishment to let their team lie... any day now.
You will know... when Jeb comes out with a new plan and a bunch of liars fall in line.

LOL, Illinois is just a complete fucking train wreck, i dont know how what they are doing here is not considered fraud, the lady in the article was right, if anyone in the private sector ever did this it would be labelled a fraud or a ponzi scheme and the person would end up being prosecuted, but when government defrauds its citizens i guess its ok.

All you can do is shake your head and laugh at the insanity of these bureaucrats

Yes, we are supposed to be able to vote out bad leaders but they have set up bureaucracies that account to nobody and cannot be voted out. In California when Schwarzenegger tried to do welfare reform or citizenship checking the bureaucrats flat told him to forget it.
