If you could live anywhere

In NZ now,if you can gain residency, they will allow your foreign income tax free for four years.Anyone know of any other half decent country doing this deal?

Panama.... Sure a tropical island is ideal but after a while some variety and different action keeps it interesting. Panama has city, tropical, rainforest, beaches and great standard of life all rolled in one :).

Sounds awesome how would an aussie be able to spend say 3 months there?

Yakuza are very organised and not visible in society.. but the recent trend of young Japanese crims is a different matter. Even when I was there the kids were a foot taller than their parents because of the inclusion of beef in the diet with McDonalds KFC etc.. but not all western influence is a good thing, a woman could walk home at 1 in the morning by herself back then.. not anymore
They are VERY visible in society. Where I lived in Osaka there was a building with a yakuza group crest and name on the front door. It was their "office", simple as that. Do Mafia families in NY have official offices with "Corleone Syndicate" emblazoned on the door? They're like lice in many parts of Osaka and some parts of Tokyo, crawling everywhere...

I'm pretty sure Vancouver has done it like 5 times

You can add Seattle to that list of most livable.
Plus in Washington state, no State Income tax.
Highest educated population in the US.

Beats Vancouver, BC hands down in my opinion. unless you can't afford Health Incsurance, the only downside to living the USA. Then again you get what you pay for. The quality of US Health care is heads and shoulders above Canada (I have lived 40 years in Canada 11 in USA)

I didn't mean visible in that sense, we were talking about street crime, when I was there women walked home at 1 am by themselves in perfect safety.. evidently that has changed.. and it's not the Yakuza.. it's young Japanese brought up on American pop culture

Quote from michaelscott:

If your white, then anywhere in Asia. In my travels, I have found that as a white American in Asia, your a stud. Women looking at you and coming up to you to talk. When I walked off the plane and walked through the airport in places like Hong Kong I immediately was stared at by many different women. When I was in Manila, the same thing happened. Everyone from the lady cop at the airport to the women at the mall to the ladies at my company's office. It felt like I was the high school quarterback who just won the big game.

Having lived in and around NYC all my life, I have found that finding ready and willing women is a time consuming matter. First, you have to be able to talk well enough. Second, you have to go around the city to different places, venues and events. Third, most of the women in NYC are not that high quality anyway and just looking for some guy to spend money on them. They ultimately use you for whatever cash and emotions you have left and then you find yourself an emotional/cashless waste having to start the above process all over again. They are not that good in bed anyway.

In comparison, I am the football hero in Asia. (In reality, in NYC, I am just a 30-something has been.)

Head over to Asia and be the football hero rather then the has been.

Black men, particular in Northern Europe and (any American) get the same treatment dude, and NY Women are not that bad if YOU got class

If anything is more exciting and beautiful than NYC in spring/early summer than sign me up.
As letterman would say nothing more exciting than getting mugged in Central park in the spring with all that beautiful garbage decorating the streets

I wouldn't live anywhere too hot, perhaps Andorra, if you want drama, then you are not too far from Paris, London, Amsterdam, etc.
