If we go to War with Iran will that be bad for the US Stock Market?

TS: The Hezbollah thing is just business as usual for them and will happen regardless of what the US policy response is. Note that Hezbollah are busy in Lebanon burying their dead, rebuilding their "mosques" (aka hardened command centers) with no supplies trying to restock short range missiles. Syria is in this too. TS: How about a blockade of all tankers leaving their oil export ports or giving Israel long range missiles with small tactical nuke warheads that don't even require risking a F16 flyover to deliver? That might get their attention. But if we wanted to do that on the cheap and really set them off just get Bush, Blair and the Pope on international TV to make a statement about the historical record. Perhaps call Mohammad a fabricating fibber and a common highway robber and child sex abuser; who turned holy only after succeeding in founding a multi-level marketing system that requires the plundered to join his downline & converting to his religion or getting their throats cut. Think that would do the trick?

iran was given 2 deadlines.ultimatums. iran blew past both of them and have been thumbing their noses at america ever since... our bolt has been shot. we got nothing.can't even get sanctions online because china is the new world power - not debtmerica. its embarassing.. bush has no political will. no support internationally. guy couldn't invade a fridge.

Iran is our friend. Now they dont look it or sound it, but they are. Without the Americans and their SUVs, who is going to use all that oil? Now the Iranians dont officially send oil over to the US, officially that is....

The bearded man needs to come out every once in a while and say something about nukes to keep its populace happy and to keep that oil up up up. He doesnt really mean any harm to the US, its greatest ally.

If the US wasnt around, then oil wouldnt be priced so high. Think of it like the odd couple, Felix and Oscar. They both argue but need each other in the worst way.

I see you guys in those gas eating SUVs. Thats one for the bearded man. Go buy yourself an Accord or even a Civic.

Bravo - I see you know the game. Most Americans think the rhetoric is 100% real. I find it funny that no one seems to pick up on the contradiction of the Iranian "mad mad" college professor/president (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) who is conspicuously secular in all his outward public mannerisms in his western suit and can turn on and off his religious rhetoric like a faucet. Every-time oil dips down in price he gets out on the podium and starts his tirades (almost like a well mimicked/emulated Hitler BTW) calling for the death and destruction of Israel, or gives a warning to the US or Europe etc. Clearly he is playing to the Mullahs and fanatical element back home for political gain and power and to the fear factor to get oil up in price. Fundamentally we are dealing with carpet traders over there who are very predictable at bluffing and anxiety elevation tactics. The more the US or the West at large responds to him the more important he thinks that he and Iran are and it increases his bargaining power. Eventually of course people seek to reduce their anxiety if that game is kept up too long though. After all, just as soon as there is no differentiation between the stress of living under constant anxiety and threat and real actions the consequence of action drives risk differentiation to to zero and the fly is swatted. Time will tell.

It will also be interesting to see when he and the lead cleric over there ("Supreme" [lol] Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) finally get into a real arm wrestle for power. That day must eventually come.

Also of interest to note is that everyone thought we beat fascism during WWII. Nope - Nazi Germany just moved it to Iran and cloned the same concept in a different social motif. Basically the "pure blood/race" Persian leaders admired the Fascists of Germany and honored them by adapting the same philosophies and renaming the country from "Persia" to "Iran"; which is essentially Persian for "Arian". All the philosophical and social nation building engineers did was change the fascist font from German to Persian by adapting a middle-eastern "skin". That facade uses a convenient totalitarian/fascist religious interpretation as a controlling social and political code. We all suffer the ripple from that original pattern and social manipulation. Something must give soon though since I think the lunatics are starting to believe their own rhetoric now...

What about the reinforced underground facilities that are for the enrichment centrifuges? Will bombs be able to knock them out or not? There are bombs designed to burrow into the ground.

Supposedly, Iran only revealed that site to the IAEA because an exiled opposition group exposed it. What else are they hiding?

Do you remember Russia, there were many skeptics that said Russia would take over the world because they are a communist socialist party. Time after time history has thought us communism does not work in the end.

The only way China is going to survive is to convert to a western style system and when I say western, keep in mind majority of the developed countries have adopted this format. You can even see the US pushing China to continue to convert for the goal of world peace.

Other Problems China Suffers:

1. A very large population with poor infrastructure.

2. You think pollution is a problem for US metro cities, China has it worse, the EPA and PETA would have committed suicide by now.

3. Alleged 50% Government Corruption Level (50% GOOD LORD!).

4. Growing to fast, sort of reminds me of Boston Market, which declared bankruptcy after it grew way to fast with no future sustainability. It is one thing for a country to declare bankruptcy within its own economy it is another for a country to declare bankruptcy in the world economy.

5. If I had to choice I would rather invest in India, which is probably not even better when compared on the above, but they have a western style government format. At least India is on the right track on becoming a developing country.

6. For god sake, Russia is a developing country and it has more corruption than China.

I just hope China adapts fast enough before something bad happens within ...

I think Bush is just an innocent historical figure, means well, but wrong place at the wrong time. R. Reagan was more capable, but is long gone.

It has been over 60 years since there has been a major war in Europe. From what I have read, this is nearly unprecedented during in the last 2 millenia. The significance is that very few Western European citizens have witnessed the massive genocide which has been the norm rather than the rule within their cultural history.

This explains the universal boredom or even hatred of America's guidance in the past 50 years. "Hey, we haven't had any bad wars recently, not because the U.S. has prevented them, but because there are no more bad guys."

This same generational phenomon occurs in markets. Ever notice how really nasty bear markets occur ever 50 years or so??
