If the media attacked Romney for being out of touch with America...

Anyone expecting the media to treat Hillary like they did Romney is in for a disappointment. Hillary is the personification of many of the media's dreams, a powerful woman pushing far left causes. They view her as endlessly fascinating and admirable. So far, they have been willing to totally ignore the fact she was hip deep in Arkansas corruption, her law firm was crooked, her "friend" Vince Foster supposedly killed himself shortly after arriving in Washington under suspicious circumstances, the fact that she obstructed an investigation into her and Bill's past sleazy dealings and told tales to a grand jury that looked fishy, that she was a disaster as secretary of State, pushing policies that continue to destabilize the middle east, that she was involved in the Benghazi scandal and coverup, etc etc even to her heartless dismissal of the Beghazi killings as unworthy of her attention.

Her adult life has been a series of disasters painted as successes or just ignored by a star-struck media.

It probably is the same thing in the public's view, but as I said, it's different when the candidate says something insulting about the people he or she is trying to win.

It's not the same in the public's view, just the left's view. Not all the public sees the point of view from the left.

As for Romney saying something insulting, again, it wasn't said in an insulting manner. It was the media that made it into that scandal - something they'd never do with Obama or Hillary, etc. Romney's quote was:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

The media took this statement way out of context. All he was saying is that there are 47% of people out there that will never vote for him no matter what, and because of that, he needs to focus his re-election efforts elsewhere. If Hillary made the exact same comment, it would be played off by the media as meaning what it was meant to mean.

"...who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it... "

Anyway, one would think that if the media was peddling a product that the public really didn't want, that the reps could take the opportunity and achieve better cohesion and control.
