If people with firearms could end attacks so quickly, why are so many cops shot and killed each year

So I've raised this twice and both times severe motormouths just suddenly are struck dumb.

HOW DO YOU STOP THE SECURITY OFFICERS FROM BEING KILLED FIRST.

The "beef" of these attackers is with other students or teachers -- not with the school resource (security) officers. The attackers generally go for the "soft" target which they have the beef with first, not the "hard" target which is the trained & armed cop at the school.

Ok, until a kid takes out the officer and the that is copycatted. They do look for mentors to copycat.

A school guard is a sitting duck and I doubt a young psychopath with schizophrenia will really think.. you know, that guy has not done anything to me? He will just shoot him and take his keys/hand or whatever is needed to open doors.

Anything that helps is great to reduce the number of incidents unless it simply drags out the inevitable. The only thing that is in out favor is the diminished IQ of most shooters, in their favor is psychopathy.

Psychopathic kid wants to shoot up school because the voices tell him, collects a score of guns plus enough ammo to level a city block and then the voices get louder.

Young guys return to their schools because they HATE their schools. Schools are not random magnets for crazy men generally. Young guys get ARs and go back to their school for revenge or some other idea in their head.

These NRA ideas are hopeless, they will just result in an evolved response. This is similar to antibiotics where not completing courses leads to better bacteria at an accelerated rate.

Remove the possibility of a young man from having a military grade weapon and he will just accept that. Let a mentally ill kid collect a bunch of guns and he will get the itch to use them, means movie* and opportunity. Treating mental illness is necessary however it is a very porous net. Removing the means, the sexy gun rapid fire gun, is essential.

An AR-15 is NOT a "military weapon." It's the semi-automatic version of the military M16 and there are even handguns that are far more powerful.

In addition to dedicated armed security personnel, what about teachers who are veterans or former LEOs? Or teachers who aren't either but are trained and experienced?
