IBKR opens @ 50 or so.

Quote from demoship:

An IPO moving downwards offer zero trading opportunities.

You cant play an IPO short.

Seeing how I've been trading full time for 11+ years I know you can't short an IPO.

But I'd recommend that you look at today's chart before making uninformed comments. Between 10:15 and 11:30 it moved up over $1. And a stock trading just under 5 million shares offers some great trading opportunities.

How many years, or months have you been in the business?
Anybody with remedial knowledge of trading understands, you CAN NOT SHORT an IPO the first few weeks of trading.

You just keep digging yourself into a deeper hole.

Go back to your make believe technical analysis please.

Vonage opened on 5/24/06. I was able to short on 6/1/06 . See attached image. It was funny reading about these people bitching about how they couldn't short or how it was "impossible" . Impossible? Yes only if you don't try. I was with Scottrade at the time, but paying $7 and being able to short VG @ 12.00 was well worth it. So just because your broker doesn't have shares available to short, doesn't mean it can't be done. . Sheesh.

I covered hedge funds on an Institutional desk, trust me I am familiar about "shorting" IPO's on the day of issue.

I know this clown that alluded to calling his broker has no clue how this is done.

good trading!

That was a week after the IPO opened though. Maybe I was wrong on the time span.

But I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to short an IPO the first day. I'm surprised you're allowed to short it after a week.

When I think of the IB ipo, it seems too much like vonage. I'll move on from this thread. I've stated my piece.

Please keep your promise if you are able to and do not come back under different names.

Seem like Scottrade have a good short list.
They even have DNDN when others don't.
Just curious, how often do you trade with Scottrade and what size?
