PS. The real reasons that IB stopped answering all the questions are that many of them are stupid, asked by poor souls who can neither understand nor let go, and it takes too much time to deal with these people. Even the sensible questions from sensible people take a lot of their time. They would really prefer to use mechanisms that have feedback and response control built in. Even the ever helpful def cried off the effort required in a recent response. As always thanks for all the help def.

To IB: I tried the new voting thing. I attempted to log in to make suggestions and it would not even allow me to set up a login ID. That was 2 days ago, so I assume it doesn't work yet.

Your accusations against me and kiwi-trader are just as untruthful as some of your previous attacks on IB. Anyone who reviews your history of posting can see that you've done more to damage IB's reputation, through unfair and idiotic accusations, than any other member of ET. Kiwi and I and others have tried to defend IB's reputation, against your attacks, because we will all suffer if your idiocy is allowed to drive IB away from public discussions with its customers.

Many of us believed, when you first began your public campaign of unfairness against IB, that you were working for a competitor of IB, to damage IB's reputation. I believed this because I thought it impossible that any legitimate customer could truly be such a moron. I was wrong.

IB's voting mechanism works just fine. I use it, kiwi uses it, and dozens of other IB customers use it. I noticed that kiwi responded to you, but he never told you how to use the voting mechanism. Hmmm. I think kiwi had the right idea. I won't tell you either.

my suggestion to all: let's bring this back on topic. we can all be our own judge on who brings value to the table with their posts. please save comments that belong in chit chat for chit chat. I for one am getting increasingly annoyed when I see a message in my inbox for and IB thread, take the time to click on it only to find that I've wasted my time.

In short, if you have a suggestion/comment for IB, post it here. If not, save it for another thread.

I've been very disturbed by a number of things at IB lately, particularly that it sometimes takes as long as 6 minutes for an order to get acknowledged, by which time of course the price is long gone. This evening, I tried to sell $350K of USDCAD at 1.1118, and the order wasn't acknowledged until 2 minutes later. In the meantime it hit my stop at 1.1105, so that's a loss of $455. Earlier, it took 2 minutes for them to acknowlege a buy order in EURUSD, and again I ended up paying more than I wanted, though this time it was just a matter of a few Euros. I've also had stops ignored - and not in fast trading, either. A couple of weeks ago I tried and tried and tried to clsoe a position in USDJPY and all my orders were ignored. Again, fortunately, the loss was small, but it's scary. And on Friday I got stuck with a position over the weekend because a sell order I put in at 16:52 was never acknowledged.

I've chatted with Trading about this. They're kind of sympathetic, but they never do anything. I'm thinking I've got to switch to a specialized Forex dealer before I get badly burned, because that kind of stuff is dangerous.

Also there are so many bugs in TWS I could run a frog farm. For a long time, I wasn't able to submit adjusted stops. Tech support said I must have entered the order ticket wrong and referred me to Trading; Trading agreed I'd done everything right but couldn't duplicate the problem at their end, so they referred me back to Tech support. Eventually they must have fixed it because the problem went away, but the consistent pattern is evading responsibility and passing the buck.

If anyone from IB monitors this thread, perhaps they could comment.

I don't have all the specifics yet but I know you contacted the help desk and they stated they'll send more details back to you when they complete their research. The one thing I checked was that your order was immediately acknowledged internally. At this point, I'm not sure if there is a misunderstanding of how our system works, your order got held up at one of the banks, there was a system error, a working order got cancelled due to lack of margin, etc. I thus ask for your patience until they conclude their research and get back to you.

In my prior post I asked that this thread be kept on topics by posting suggestions/improvements here. I should have said feel free to post your comments here if you want to discuss IB but suggestions and recommended improvements should be posted and voted on via the IB web site poll feature:

The aim is for the poll to be the primary reference and gauge of client demand.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot....

I still can't figure out how to access the poll feature through the link def gave. When I go to the link, I am sent to the account page to obtain a password, but I can't find the place to sign up. Under 'customer service tools' the 'idea box' link says it is still under construction. I am sure the proper link is right in front of me, but I can't see it.

My first suggestion will be to request specific instructions for accessing the suggestion box, so dumb guys can participate too!

I assume you are an IB customer. If so, log into your account.

Go to User Management and Open

Select "Voting Subscriptions"

If you are not an IB customer you can't vote (or see the poll itself - I think).

improvement for changing or cancelling orders for bellies.i'm beggining to wonder if there anyone even there.i'm not going near these again unless they improve. cattle and hogs are superb though.

I have previously made the point that because IB data doesnt reliably include the highs and lows of each bar IB risks losing customers to other vendors. I also think that the same applies to issues with backfill like the lack of transaction information (tick charts).

Only def has ever acknowledged these issues which suggests, correctly or otherwise, that IB doesn't really care about them. If its not apparent after all my damned posts on the subject I think its important --- who cares about bells and whistles on charts if the chart IS NOT RIGHT in the first place.

FWIW here are two extracts I noticed in other peoples postings this morning that suggest that IB will lose customers over these issues:
