Yea right lets fire someone , great solution â not !!
I get the impression that a lot of people here have not been trading for that long and do not understand that these things happen. As I have said in a previous post every broker I ever used for Day Trading has had a day like this . Fyi â I have been Day Trading on line since 1999. Read the agreement you signed with IB when you opened your account , all brokers have you sign the same thing . They are not responsible for losses caused by internet connectivity issues - period . So even if they had a totally incompetent moron who did something to cause this they are not liable. Shit happens , it sucks especially if you lose money because of it, however it comes with the territory of on line trading.
They all go down on us and suck from time to time !!!!
I hate that line of reasoning. Nobody should accept that "shit happens so I'll take my losses and move on because I signed an agreement". This is 2008 (almost) and online trading has been around for a long time. So with each passing year, things should get more and more reliable and f*ck-ups like today should not take place. The customers should DEMAND that stuff like this never happens.
There is real money on the line here and this is no joke. That is what redundancy and backups are for. I still repeat someone should be held accountable for this and lessons should be learnt.
