I-pad

Perhaps you should try. It's surprisingly easy and fast.

I am typing on the iPad now at the normal keyboard speed. It just doesn't feel right without the keyboard. I am glad it auto-finish my words tho. I don' think i would like to type number and symbols.

It feel like i am using my iPhone, but it's only bigger. I am facing the same computiqngq limitation.

Got the iPad. Love it, but for trading on iTWS (the primary reason I ordered it - need access to IB around the house / bed) it's not as I'd hoped as iTWS requires a few too many clicks to place orders. This has nothing to do with the iPad. Absolutely love it - even though it is essentially a big iPod Touch with 3G. Put some fun and educational apps for the kids in it, they can't get enough.

As it regards iTWS (somewhat different topic), I understand the need to have more than one click to place orders so that errors are not made, but there should be an "armed" mode that you can enable to quickly be able to just buy sell market something directly through the booktrader screen without being redirected to another screen. How about just a simple buy mkt / sell mkt (default size) right under over booktrader, with a simple pop-up confirm "are you sure", without directing you to another screen. I will pass this to IB.

Get something like iTap which is a VPN tool.

You can connect to your desktop and run regular TWS.

Also WebTrader might work, don't remember if there was a limitation with Flash.

Damn, all this in 2 months?

"Morgan Stanley sees the tablet reshaping the PC market, raises its Apple target price to $332"

"What's turned her head? The blistering sales of the iPad and the diminishing growth of the netbooks'"

* The iPad is on track to become the fastest ramping mobile Internet device out of the gate and one of the most popular in history (see Exhibit 2).

* Early iPad usage patterns validate the tablet as a computing device. It's already overtaken the Web browsing share of devices like the iPod touch.

* It's at least partially responsible for a sharp drop in the growth of netbook sales, which decelerated to -13% year-over-year in the month of April, from +45% in the first quarter of 2010. Huberty thinks the netbook phenomenon may have peaked; she expects tablet sales to overtake netbooks by 2012.

Hello iPad, goodbye Netbook

A tablet will be a great tool but it will be worthless until it has USB ports, a decent size HD and more RAM.

The HP Slate coming out will have 3 USB ports, a 256GB SSHD, 4GB RAM, touchscreen and they kicked Microsoft to the curb by running Palm's WinOS.
This might be one hell of a laptop replacement.

we had these touch screen devices decades ago really. In the Implantables industry I worked on a project that built a pacemaker programmer into a little touchscreen computer... it was a huge step past the clunky programmers we had at the time but the doctors didn't like it.

I'm thinking that Apple might be the only company that could launch an iPad and pull it off... their clientelle are more the technoconsumers and brand name fans [for very good reasons though], not technophiles, and will pay big bucks just to enhance their technical experience...

anyway to set up an array of 4-6 ipads for trading? :D

No but I've seen a concept Slate on a docking station with 3 external monitors attached.
Serious wood.
