I don't disavow it one bit. Democrats have a plan, a rather obvious one at that, to alter the demographics of the country in a way that will provide them what they perceive as a permanent minority.
Why else would they defy the law to screw their own base supporters? Whose jobs are immigrants taking? Who is getting pushed out of their neighborhoods? Not those of Washington Post editorial writers living in Chevy Chase, that's for sure. If immigrants and trade deals were taking the jobs of journalists and university professors, we would be hearing a non-stop diatribe about how awful it is.
Not too long ago, before they changed their plan, democrats recognized this clearly and were steadfast in trying to protect their base from low skill immigrants.
I realize anecdotal data is of little use, but five nations were represented by the professors in my department when I worked in academia, and I heard no complaints. It was a great pleasure in fact to work with so many highly accomplished and very smart people. I don't see any reason to be afraid of immigrants taking your job, unless of course they are better at it than you are.
There's a little more to it than being better at it. While actual job proficiency may come in to play, compensation is the larger part of the equation. I would also think there is quite a bit of difference between someone working in academia and the average joe on the shop floor. That guy running a punch press has nowhere else to go when the immigrant takes his job. It's especially true when that immigrant is illegal. I can take you to many a small to medium sized shop in the Chicago area and the overwhelming majority of the workforce are illegals working for the same money that was being paid 20 years ago. Jobs are lost, wages are suppressed,and benefits are slashed under such conditions. Hardly the democratic theme we hear about that party representing the working class.
Did you ask the American phd's who were denied those slots? I am guessing as well those profs were in the country legally.
Anyway, you're probably right. Let the cheapest do the work and forget if they're here legally or not. Barbara Jordan was just another racist xenophobe who didn't appreciate the beauty of slave labor or maybe she was wrong about the effect on low skill American workers.
So you know a lot of shops that employ illegals but you did of course not alert authorities or, if nothing helped, some media outlet? Your account, sir, does not sound credible at all.

So, you are just moaning and complaining but you don't do anything about it? I wrote in direct response to another poster who claimed he saw illegals working in companies first hand but apparently he did not do anything about it. If you wanna change something you gotta do something about it and start with yourself. Disagree? I am in favor of kicking out illegal immigrants in the same way I am for punishing any other illegal behavior and activities. But it does not help to just complain, we gotta start with something ourselves.
