It might be time for a newer computer, you can get a new Dell 3000 dimension for under $400.

My son has a 4 year old dell with a celeron processor and window ME. I de have 512mb ram, he also has a really good graphics card. I can open TWS on his computer.
 
If you have been using the same PC for a long time then the log files in jts or ibjts subdirectories will be very large and therefore slow to open. Delete them and it will speed up TWS. I found 27gb by doing this.

He would need a pentium 3 at least for that, I tried XP pro on my sons Dell with a celeron, wont work.

I will be real honest with you, most treading platforms don't run very well on windows 98. 4 years ago the did.
