Sure. Why wouldn't I? I have no idea what Monday will bring. Could be my best day ever! :D

Gotta remember, I'm a scalper. I don't care what the market does, just so long as I can read it. :confused: :cool: . I take 2,3,4,5,6,7+ points all day long, times a minimum 2, mainly 4, max 12, contracts. Losses are always minimized to the best of my ability... as soon as I question the viability of my expectation, which involves time as well as action, I'll bail.

My point... I don't pay attention to indicators, overseas, report data,. etc. I am very aware however of the WHEN these EXPECTED things come into play. Next week looks like a full economic calendar. :eek: :D
 
Latency ... Its been a concern of mine occasionally. I just prefer to be aware of it generally. Re futures as well as stocks.

During RTH this week. I would be interested to hear what you found - if anything - when you watch the ECBOT live book(YM) and your trading DOM panel. Just curious.

Something else. Ive used ButtonTrader and ZLT. both are fast in displaying data. But ...QT charting may lag a change to the DOM by over a second on average.

Im interested to hear what anyone has to say. And .... do i want to reduce the lag on my setup?? Well yes.
But ... that is NOT why im asking.
Anybody?

Latency. Im glad your talking feed latency and not personal latency! LOL

First off, solve your problem and subscribe to a 3rd party feed. Then you've got at least 2 feeds... you will be able to determine the latency, and be secure in the (likely?) event one of the feeds goes awry. And just a reminder, for YM (eCBOT minis) there is NO EXCHANGE FEE, for now. And here's a 3rd party feed special.. Note the red text about 1/3 way down. There is no actual usage verification. Just gotta tell them. :)

Sometime over the last few days there was a short thread touching on the use of DOM volume. The concensus, (of which I was one) is that DOM volume is not as useful as once was, due to capabilities afforded to all etraders. T&S (aka. The Tape) is reliable, with no games allowed.

That said, yes, last week was strange in YM. But then its uncharted ground. The price levels were wack, in that they marked time moving to the top-end of a zone, immediately followed by a trip to the bottom-end of a zone. Very difficult to hold that unless you position or swing. I call it sandwich bars. aka whipsaw. In this case it was whipsaw in slo-mo. All the while grinding up. You took it while you had it or you lost it. Or you just endure the substantial market exposure. I like minimal market exposure. :)

There is a correction coming. Just when no one knows. I do not have enough account size to do what it takes to be in on the short side when it happens. The market makes it very difficult to do that. And it is very hard to get in once it starts rolling and you have to ask yourself "Am I selling at the bottom now?" I'm thinking there may be some kind of sell-off on Monday but that is just a guess on my part. Probably not the "big one" that we all want to catch. As I have mentioned in the past I am not a pro but that is only stating the obvious ("and thank you for contributing to the prize fund BK.")
Watching with great interest from a short distance, ready to pounce at a moments notice.

...love the spreadsheet features. I want to keep the IB feed into SC. SC allows multi data feeds.

YM DOM. Yeah....I began pay tuition in June 06. Hey ...took just a couple of minutes for rj to figure out the bid levels were loaded
compared to ask levels or visa versa didnt mean shit...necessrily.
I new then i wuz in for some fun.

There's a long thread here somewhere which goes into an attempt at DOM analysis.

NO... i will NOT debate the worth of the method...others have and many have used it or added to it. All im saying is it's just a way to get started thinking about how to proceed.
