Concur with your points, only problem is that the "elites" in the respective Eastern European nations are the ones that are scare mongering and drawing the devil on the wall to scare their people and that in no way a majority of Polish, Slovenian, Hungarian, Romanian citizens are in fact against hosting some fair share of asylum seekers. Right-wing extremists would love to gain a majority of citizens on the side against opening borders but it does not change the fact that their citizens think differently. Victor Orban of Hungary is the prime example of someone who pretends his people made the choice to close borders when in effect he is a right wing extremist and xenophobe. He is not representing the people who voted for him. That is the problem.
To be fair many of these European countries (Romania, Hungary, Greece, etc.) don't have the financial resources to support the settlement of refugees. The reality is that polling (see recent Le Monde article) shows that over 70% the residents in these countries oppose accepting refugees.
The idea that Germany and the EU is forcing these countries to accept refugees against their will while providing no financial resources to help is a significant issue. I will give credit to Germany for accepting a large number of refugees. However Germany has the financial strength to support doing this... these other countries do not. In the case of many of them (e.g. Greece, etc. ), their poverty is driven by EU financial policies driven by the German elite. You can debate if the loan policies are correct or not, but it is difficult to say "hey, we made your country broke, by the way you must settle X thousands of refugees... but we ain't giving you a dime to help".
I understand that some of these countries (e.g. Hungary) have right-wing leaders.... but polling shows most of the population supports them on refugee policies.
