I am afraid you are one of that noisy majority who in this poll voted for shooting the dissenters!
I not only know very little about European history, I know even less about American history, maybe because the US is such a "young" country. But from the little I know from my school days, I remember that many of those who became the founding fathers of the US were refugees from religious and other oppression in England and elsewhere in Europe. Strangely, the language you use is oppressive, even offensive.
But maybe that's the way arguments are fought out these days: the guy with the biggest loudspeaker (a modern tool replacing the loud mouth) and the biggest gun wins. There is a nice English word for that: "bullie", and there are numerous Hollywood films about how bullies terrorise the other kids in school (personally I quite liked "Back to the future" with Michael Fox, but that's another story).
Is it not then a logical consequence of that sort of environment, that almost regularly we have to read about some teenage schoolkids going to school with automatic or semi-automatic firearms killings scores of other kids and teachers? And regularly not in inner city problem zones but in rural "bible-belt" small towns?

When I was in Switzerland on my MBA programme I attempted to go to Italy and also to Rome: even for Muslims the Pope carries great respect as a leader of many millions of believers. But unfortunately I was denied a visa, with no reasons given. Maybe some time in the future when people have accepted some sense in their heads I will be allowed to travel in the EU

Not only did I not vote to shoot the non-American members on ET, but I avoided the entire poll altogether as you clearly started this thread simply because you were irate that a thread was started for Americans to discuss this crisis. So, I'm sorry to disappoint you fairplay. Believe it or not I don't want to kill you. You are very irritating, like msfe and Candle, but I definitely have no wish to end your lives. Maybe torture you all by throwing you in a room bound and gagged and forced to listen to Rush Limbaugh reruns 24 hours straight, but not kill you.
My language has hardly been more oppressive or offensive than what has been thrown back at me. You need look no further than tampa. AND, may I remind you that you're the one who has used racial terms on these threads, not me.

If you're claiming that I post more words than msfe, you're wrong. If you click on every link msfe posts you'll end up reading far more "information" than my relatively short contributions (those Guardian articles are very long-winded, besides absurd).
Your babbling about armed teenagers in schools is yet another one of those tangents that make no sense to anyone but yourself, and possibly msfe & Candle.

Thank you for providing proof for what I stated: your language is oppressive and offensive and continues to be so. And also thank you for telling me that the the word "bully" is in the singular tense: you must be a linguist, and quite a good one at that. Yes, we poor foreign devils don't have good schools, and when it comes to writing in foreign languages, a typing error slips in. Thank you, Uncle Sam for correcting me/us! All of us, including the Swiss among us.
Talking about the Swiss: as far as I am concerned, the Guardian is one of the very few English language papers which almost always make excellent reading. Your "babbling" by contrast is not half as inspiring. MSFE has quite rightly quoted from that paper, because unfortunately for you and me, in Switzerland they do not speak English. When on my MBA programme in Geneva I had to learn French, which I enjoyed very much, but I could not convince the Swiss to give up their three and a half languages in favour of my Bahasa Indonesia.
Which reminds me of a nice little joke about an American who was sent for training to Switzerland (yes, there are some Americans who still need training...). When he was back home his folks asked him how life was over there. And he said: unbelievable! In Switzerland they speak 3 languages: German, French and Italian. But what is worse, there is a town which in German is called Luzern, in French it is called Lausanne and in Italian it is called Lugano.
If you don't get this one, which is not syurprising, don't worry.
I am not worried about you shooting me: I have a blowpipe from Kalimantan in my home with some nice and spicy arrows. You won't like it if one of them gets to your backside as you are running away screaming with fear. The poll that I created is anonymous, so I have no means to check if your telling a lie or not. All I said is that you belong to that noisy majority who think people like me should be shot.

Or are you merely related to those upright swiss citizens who

Every time I hear the word 'guardian' used by a swiss person I instantly get very suspicious.
The only thing lacking is if you also were to state that you are an upright religious person.

Guards need to have completed their initial military training in the Swiss Armed Forces, and obtained a certificate of good conduct from an ecclesiastical and a civil authority.
