How not to do business in China

Quote from Intelinvestor:

Trade between US and China only benefited Americans.

What China got? A useless surplus and polluted air, water etc.

Stop exploiting.

China government welcome these corporations with open arms. They want to trade jobs and surplus with pollution and US dollar.

How do you think China can attract foreign investment so quickly? Geez...

You think this is exploitation and on the other hand, US unions are whining jobs getting sucked out of the country.

So who win? No winner? Just whinning from both sides?

You are lying again. Are you working at a media corporation?

As far as I know, in Chinese, "foreigner" are literally translated as "Lao Wai", old outsider. Being called old is some form of respect, because elder people are generally respected in Asia culture.

Quote from Capablanca:

You are the one out of your mind. The "demonizing" you speak of in US media is next to nothing compared to what the Chinese are capable of. What's the literal translation for foreigner in Chinese again? Isn't it "foreign devil"? Chinese are made to be suspicious of Americans on just about anything, Tibet for example. I hear Chinese complaining that the United States fears China and is blocking China from a leading role in the world. The truth of the matter is that there is no country that is helping China more to achieve its ambitions than the United States. When did China begin to turn things around? Wasn't it in the 1970s? Guess what changed in China's policies? Didn't China become more US friendly during that time? If Chinese along with others have a generally good view of Americans it shouldn't be surprising. America's friends have a general tendency to prosper.

But you are already talking in terms of China being a formidable enemy of the United States. What is to be made of this? Maybe Americans have reason to be wary of China.

China government is stupid and near sighted.

I would rather prefer cleaner air and water instead of worth-less everyday green paper.

I told you already, Chinese mass still holds a favorable image towards Americans in general thanks to the Chinese news media propaganda.

But as long as they find out that how
American's media are demonizing
Chinese people on a daily basis, you
will see they will become hostile.

So, blame China government and not corporations. When your competition are polluting the enviornment within rules to gain an edge. What are you doing to do? Your only option is to follow them or disappear. Either way, you won't end up with a corporation that doesn't pollute.

Also, it is not an OBLIGATION to hold your so-call worthless green paper. China can exchange it to renminbi right away.

Why they don't do that? Cause that will flood the market, devalue US dollar and jack up Renminbi, which will kill export.

If you don't understand that, I don't know why you are a trader at all.

Quote from Dobbes:

He's pretty ridiculous. Its hit the point where he is trying too hard. Sounds kind of like Rush Limbaugh with his jew controlled media rants; and like a crazy old man with his 3 purchases of U.S. goods = all U.S. goods are terrible rationalization. Its really impossible to take someone who would make such sweeping generalizations seriously, but hey we have crazies with the confederate flag on their car who blame everything on immigrants and gun control, maybe he's like the Chinese equivalent.

Oh I couldn't agree more, he's a special breed of Chinese who use the internet as some sort of tool. It's to keep the Chinese peoples separated from other cultures by way of outlandish (and often racist) statements that are, admittedly, argued very well and diversive. Don't let the language they use fool you, they're much better at English and smarter when they want to be. They often dominate the Chinese forums, China Daily for instance, but the odd one will crop up on a board mainly used by Westerners. I don't understand it myself, it could be a form of expression brought about by desperate feelings of inadequacy (misplaced) or possibly a political tool.

Most Chinese, even the older ones, aren't like this.

Also, you might not noticing this.

I already see tension between US and China during the mid-air collision of warplane near south-china in 2001.

Just that Al-Quada did China a favor by taking the center stage as US enemy No.1.

Longer term, whether you are American or Chinese citizen, you will agree that competition between these 2 nations will only get more intense.

That DOES not mean hostility by default in the future. Adults work things out while children fights.

The rate of changes and whether India also grew strong at the same time will make things easier or harder for everyone to adjust.

Speaking in Market tearms, volitility and fear runs high. Not until things settle down, then everyone can make logical decisions.

But, if you have some hot headed presidents in both countries and no counter weight like a strong India or EU. Yea, we are heading for bad times.

Also, WWII is almost 70 years away. Even the anti-war sentiment of the Japanese is slowly fading away. I fear the odd for our future.

It's common knowledge that in China, no one is very concerned about poisonous toys or drugs, as long as they are exported. The Chinese ain't too concerned about foreigners.

Mickey D's used red in their ad? Boo F*cking Hoo

Really? Why did they execute their former FDA chief?

It's good to know that detail has been handled more diplomatically in Mandarin. But I'm not lying. Look up gweilo.

They should hold a favorable opinion Chinese media or no.
