His behavior and policies have been exactly that.
Yet many European entities have recognized, "This Socialism crapola ain't working" and are privatizing this and that. All of which escapes Odumbo.
Quote from Scataphagos:
6-12 months isn't enough ... there needs to be some time for training. Many countries have a 2-year required commitment. In addition to having the labor force to "do the country's business", the military environment instills a sense of personal responsibility. That is, you can't just tell your boss to "f*ck off" and quit. You have to keep yourself and your living space neat and clean. You have to show up for work every day, and on time. You must show proper respect for your superiors. If you don't, there are consequences... just as in "real life". Valuable lessons for all... some of which were never learned at home.
For those who can't qualify for military service, civilian service... like VISTA.
In America our culture has morphed into ugly. Some people do all the heavy lifting while others do none of it... and reap significant benefits simply by how they cast their vote. All very damaging.
Quote from Voodoo-king:
Mandatory this or that is not the solution, not saying nothing is learned but mandatory military, mandatory taxation, mandatory health care all means individuals are owned by the state. Fighting for freedom is meaningless if its not a choice.

Quote from luisHK:
"...."an employee is always free to leave"
Isn't that the case now?

I don't see any Ron Paul type characters in the UK. Nothing remotely close. Most people in Europe wouldn't know what a libertarian is.
