Also, those countries don't have the demographic problems of the US. Virtually everybody in Northern Europe is educable and capable of holding down meaningful jobs. In the US there are subcultures of ignorance and lawlessness that will present America with enormous difficulties going forward.
Not to say it's hopeless - just that it's going to be difficult and will require a lot of resolve.
