How Low Can Krugman Go?

It is time the New York Times fires Paul Krugman if they desire the paper to have any integrity whatsoever...

Trump calls Paul Krugman 'demented' for suggesting he has an 'incentive' to benefit from a 9/11-style attack

President-elect Donald Trump blasted a New York Times columnist on Saturday for suggesting Trump has an "incentive" to benefit from a terrorist attack similar to the circumstances surrounding those on September 11, 2001.

"They had a clown today in the failing New York Times saying I wanted to have another World Trade Center catastrophe because it was good for my base," Trump said at a rally in Mobile, Alabama.

"What kind of demented person would say that?" Trump added.

Although he didn't refer to the columnist by name, Trump appeared to have been directing his remarks at the columnist Paul Krugman, who was widely criticized for tweeting his speculation Friday.

"Thought: There was (rightly) a cloud of illegitimacy over Bush, dispelled (wrongly) by 9/11. Creates some interesting incentives for Trump," Krugman tweeted.

Trump said when he was first informed of the columnist's words, he believed them to be a typo.

"Thousands of people killed. They said I wanted to have another catastrophe like that because it is good for my base," Trump said.

"Anybody that says that — and this guy is demented. He is. He's a demented person. And this is why the Times is failing," he added.

Krugman expanded on his original tweet Saturday, noting that the events he alluded to "won't be a false-flag terrorist attack," as many observers had taken his comments to mean.

"It will either exploit a real terrorist attack … or involve a US version of Falklands War — picking a fight with foreign power to rally home base," Krugman tweeted.

He argued that Trump's invoking of patriotism after such an event could help "distract" Americans from questioning his legitimacy and criticizing the effects of his policies.

He is a disgusting excuse for a human being. Sadly, he is a reflection of the people that follow him.

All Presidents have something to be blamed for. "W" has not cornered the blame market. But he is one of the most, if not the most, blame worthy Presidents in the Nations History by any measure you can come up with. Bushes family had been threatened by Hussein. That is a matter of record. I imagine Cheney was also on the same hit list, but that I don't know for sure. Both Cheney and Bush took office with the intention of liquidating Hussein. They succeeded; but at what cost in lives, property and treasure! When Cheney was directly confronted with this his answer was, "So." If anyone deserves to be water boarded it is Dick Cheney.

I really think, policy wise, that LBJ was the worst president.

'This is a desperate plea for attention from a guy whose become completely unhinged over the past couple of months and has been writing for a publication that has. . . predicted every single turn of the election completely wrong.'

Federalist staff writer Bre Payton joined “Fox and Friends” Monday morning to talk about The New York Times columnist Paul Krugman’s tweet intimating that President-elect Donald Trump has an “incentive” to allow another terror attack occur on U.S. soil because it could boost his favorability.

“I’m not surprised that Paul Krugman said this,” she said. “I think his brain broke a long time ago. This is the same guy who said that the FBI had sympathies with the alt-right and that the GOP was enabling the Kremlin.”

“This is a desperate plea for attention from a guy whose become completely unhinged over the past couple of months and has been writing for a publication that has produced an insane number of fake news as they predicted every single turn of the election completely wrong.”

“Every single day there’s a new excuse, a new reason why Hillary Clinton lost the election coming from the left and coming from the media,” she said. “It’s never why she was a flawed candidate, it’s never how she set up a private e-mail server and used it to curry favors with deep-pocketed donors. . . Last week it was the Russians, the other day Obama was blaming the media, and now Paul Krugman is saying that Trump needs another 9/11 to be a legitimate president.”
