How is that Wall coming along?

Trump won on four basic policies. A wall, a halt to muslim immigration/colonization, fair trade deals and no idiotic neo-con wars.

He has done zero on the wall, he has allowed the courts to bully him on the second, he is putzing around with the third, and he seems to be wavering on the last. I mean, the military wants to put more troops into Afghanistan. We have been there for the entire lives of high school students with nothing to show for it but dead bodies, crippled vets who die on VA waiting lists and trillions of dollars down the drain and into the pockets of corrupt afghans.

We can't find a few bill to build the wall but we can pour more money down the afghan toilet, as well as the Syrian toilet, the Iraq toilet and soon the Korean toilet.

We could have built a 100 foot high wall with the money that traitor Obama handed over to Iran.

The Russians were there for 10 years and left with their tails between their legs.

What's so damned important about Afghanistan that we keep continuing to waste soldiers' lives and US treasure there? (Surely there's got to be a better explanation than just "the excuse for the neocons to conduct a war somewhere"...??)

Yeah...I was just about to add... "Isn't it the Russians turn to take the reigns there again"?
I read a long time ago that Afghanistan has more gold underground than has ever been mined in the history of mankind... and now there's technology that makes it feasible to get to. Probably BS conspiracy stuff.
What a sh*thole that place is.

Amid opposition, Trump makes low budget request for Mexico border wall

WASHINGTON President Donald Trump is asking Congress for $1.6 billion to begin building a wall along the border with Mexico, far short of the amount needed for a project sharply criticized by Democrats and even some conservative Republicans.

An internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plan in February estimated the total cost for the wall at $21.6 billion, but the White House's budget proposal for 2018, released in full on Tuesday, included a request for just $1.6 billion.

Two Republican aides in Congress said the modest request is an acknowledgement from the White House that full funding is not realistic given opposition from Freedom Caucus conservatives in the House of Representatives as well as Democrats in the House and the Senate.

Unless Trump is able to rally broader support and win more funding for construction in another fiscal year, his plans for a "big beautiful wall" that he promised during his election campaign last year may not be realized, the aides said.

The budget, which includes 10-year projections for spending for most areas of the government, did not include a 10-year plan for funding wall construction.

"We are absolutely dead serious about the wall," White House budget director Mick Mulvaney told reporters on Tuesday.

He said the Trump administration was still reviewing prototypes to determine whether to build fences, a brick and mortar wall or some other type of structure.

The $1.6 billion would allow the administration to build small parts of the proposed wall.

Trump has said he will find a way for Mexico to repay the United States for construction of the wall but that Congress would need to fund it first.

Members of the House Freedom Caucus said earlier this year that Trump would have to show how he would offset the cost of a wall, which Democrats flatly oppose.

Facing opposition, the White House pulled its request for full funding for the wall in the 2017 fiscal year and said it would revisit the issue in the next budget.

One of the congressional aides said Trump still lacks the support needed. "Nothing has changed politically on the wall."

So far, the DHS has solicited bids for prototypes of a wall using $20 million in existing funds, but no government contractors have been selected to begin construction.

A DHS memo shared with a Senate committee last month said the agency would be able to build 34 miles (55 km) of a levee wall in Texas's Rio Grande Valley and replace 14 miles (23 km) of fence in San Diego with $1 billion.

So the problem is these idiots in the Freedom Caucus? Before I advocate just primarying all of them, I will offer a suggestion. Take the $20 bill from the defense budget since the vast majority of that will be wasted anyway. It would be a rounding error in the defense budget.

It's odd but I don't recall them objecting to increases in military spending on the grounds that it wasn't "paid for." I guess securing the border of Afghanistan is a higher priority for them than our own borders.

Trump should demand a vote on this and force them to take a stand, either with the people or illegal immigrants.

That border fence is not very impressive compared to what we bought for the fucking Israelis. I have seen better fences in suburbia. Trump's golf courses have better fences.

No wall, no more republicans in congress. Fuck all of them.

My guess is that pesky little problem that brought down two towers. I know the right wing priority has grossly shifted toward immigrants rather than terrorists so try to stay focused.

What are we going to build? A WALL.

Who is going to pay for it? MEXICO.

Not only did Trump not get Mexico to pay for it, he is having trouble getting Congress to pay for it.

Trump Hasn’t Built A Wall Yet. He Hasn’t Got A Prototype Wall Yet, Either.
Still, construction will begin “later this summer,” an official said

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump famously and repeatedly pledged to build a “great, great wall” on the southern U.S. border and make Mexico pay for it. But more than five months into his presidency, the only money his administration has secured to build the multi-billion-dollar barrier is $20 million, which was transferred from other programs and is being usedfor prototypes.

Although Congress has not approved funding for the actual wall, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency is trying to move ahead anyway. The government plans to use the $20 million ― most of which was originally directed toward a mobile video surveillance program for border security ― to help fund 4 to 8 prototypes. Companies winning the contracts for the prototypes are expected to complete them within 30 days.

Construction will begin on federal land “in San Diego later this summer,” Ronald Vitiello, the acting deputy commissioner of the border protection office, said Tuesday. When asked for more specificity, he repeated “summer,” which he added meant by September.

“President Trump still has yet to provide the public with even the most basic details of what [the wall] will cost, how it will impact border communities, and whether it will even be effective,” Austin Evers, American Oversight’s executive director, told HuffPost in a statement.

He was asked whether Mexico had offered any word on financial help. “Not that I’m aware of,” he said.

Trump last week, in a speech in Iowa, mused that parts of the wall might contain solar panels that would create energy and, in turn, reduce the barrier’s cost.

“And this way, Mexico will have to pay much less money,” Trump said. “And that’s good, right? Is that good? ... A solar wall. It makes sense. Let’s see. We are working it out.”

Welcome to reality!!!!
Some have been trying to point out to you that
politicians make all types of promises to get ELECTED : that is their sole and unique goal as far as electors are concerned. When they have won, it is all about their own interests, and
keeping a little bit of promises so as to be in a position to promise as much as possible for the next elections if they do wish to run again.

No wall, no more republicans in congress. Fuck all of them.
Absolutely, I honestly don't care if Mexico pays for the wall or not. I just need to see a wall. If Trump and the Republicans can't keep this main campaign promise then they can find out what it feels like to have their own supporters turn on them.

PREDICTION: Trump will deal with constant "Where is the Wall?" chants at any re-election rallies. The rallies won't be fun for him like they once were.

I don't have a problem with Democrats winning to send do-nothing Republicans a message. I just wish the Democrats would drop their identity politics. Playing the victim on every issue and calling everyone racist is just played out.
