How I was banned from TheologyWeb

Quote from Mom0/pH0x:

are you sure u didn't get banned from theology web for trying to schill out SCT guru schemes? :D :D :D

I just told them they had everything to gain and nothing to lose.
That seemed too good to be true.
It raised suspicions.
So I got banned.

Christ! :D

Here's someone else who was temporarily banned for posting in the "Christianity 201" forum. Ormly had upwards of 5000 posts at TheologyWeb before they figured out he was not orthodox enough to be in the "Christianity" section. When he came back, he opened a thread in the Psychotherapy Room titled:

What constitutes being labeled "unorthodox" or "orthodox"?

Here's an exerpt of what he had to say....

"I have been banned and just let back on in the last day or two for violating their "on the spot" rule. That is why I submitted this thread to see where others stood. I haven't even been able to discuss it with them and when attempting, I have been accused of harassing the mod's. Its a laugher. I really don't care whether they ban me or not. I have been on this forum for many years and have pretty much made my on judgment as to the quality of the mentality that possesses this leadership. A clique of "god's" they are and i don't need there unwarranted scrutiny of my belief in God."

Here's how he describes himself to a mod:

I am a Trinitarian. I am a Pentecostal, NOT of the oneness type, who has been on the ladder that leads to the Throne for over 60 yrs. Your biasedness rules out when there is disagreement on certain aspects of the Life of Jesus/the Gospels, i.e., when other disagree with you, we're out as being unorthodox. It also carries over when one of your "charges" runs out of argument, gets their feelings hurt and complains. We are both orthodox with regards to Jesus Christ. Why do you want to shut me down because I view Him, perhaps even more deeply personal, than you do?

Bottom line . . . . I am a Christian.

Here's a sample of mod response:
No, you were banned for many violations of the Campus Decorum of which you agreed to abide when you joined TWEB. Laugh away. Rules have to be drawn somewhere, Ormly. The Trinity is true, the incarnation is true. Christ is the Alpha and the Omega, it doesn't matter if you do or do not like it. It is warranted, you agreed to abide by the orthodox rules. So, what are you going to do? Abide by the easy rules outlined in the Campus Decorum? Or complain? You can post in Theology 201, you cannot post in Christianity 201 as you have decided to be unorthodox in some of your beliefs. Staff here will not bend on orthodoxy. Is this clear enough? No, you were banned for many violations of the Campus Decorum of which you agreed to abide when you joined TWEB. Your opinions will not prompt changes to the Campus Decorum. The issue I see is that you actually like TWEB, but are unwilling to resolve your incarnation issues in an orthodox way. Ormly, quit complaining. Be content with where you can and cannot post or leave.

Here is a masterpiece of doublespeak. It's open... but it's not.

Mission Statement
Our goal is to encourage discussion, promote growth from the knowledge shared amongst participants, and have free and open debate in the marketplace of ideas. As a forum this is an open forum and are dedicated to open discussion from varying points of views and interests, some of which may be considered controversial. While this forum is Christian owned, all are welcome to enter freely into discussion and participate with respect to the forum rules and guidelines. Additionally, while the members of leadership hold strong and divergent views on particular issues of Christian doctrine, this forum was not established primarily for the advocating of any particular agenda or secondary belief within Christianity. The administration including those who hold the position of moderators vary on many points of theology but all are required at a minimum to affirm these things contained within the Mission Statement otherwise known as our Statement of Faith.

If the mission is to be double-minded and forked-tongued, this would make sense.

More weird stuff.

It turns out that at TheologyWeb, eschatology can only be discussed within an "orthodox" framework.
Here is the forum rules for Eschatology 201.

This area of the forum is primarily for Christian theists to discuss orthodox views of Eschatology. Other theist participation is welcome within that framework, but only within orthodoxy. Posts from nontheists that do not promote atheism or seek to undermine the faith of others will be permitted at the Moderator's discretion - such posters should contact the area moderators before posting. End time -isms within orthodox Christianity also discussed here. Clearly unorthodox doctrines, such as those advocating "pantelism/full preterism/Neo-Hymenaeanism" or the denial of any essential of the historic Christian faith are not permitted in this section but can be discussed in Comparative Religions 101 without restriction. Any such threads, as well as any that within the moderator's discretions fall outside mainstream evangelical belief, will be moved to the appropriate area.

Millennialism- post-, pre- a-

Futurism, Historicism, Idealism, and Preterism, or just your garden variety Zionism.

I have no clue what most of these terms mean. I only know that the OP asked a simple, open question:

"Okay, for the event commonly known as the "Rapture" - which is your view?"

Pre-trib
Post-trib
Mid-trib
Pre-wrath
I dunno, isn't that a song by Blondie?
Other (specific in thread)

So I wrote up a beautiful essay, as "other", explaining exactly what it was, and was not. I basically said it was a reference to resurrection, unbeknownst to the NT scribe. I went back recently to check on it...completely missing! I found my post in the Psychotherapy Room, completely gutted of it's content. Where the content would have been, I found this message from a mod:

Eschatology is restricted to discussion within the bounds of 'orthodox' Christian belief only.

Christ!

Even more weird stuff.

In "Theology 201" forum, the OP asks:

Seven posters followed up saying, basically, "no!"

I followed with two excellent essays on why solipsism is a better paradigm when approaching the truth as Jesus understood it.

The content of those posts was completely gutted.

Here is an excerpt of the mods reason:

While this area is for the discussion of these doctrines within historic Christianity, all theists interested in discussing these areas within the presuppositions of and respect for the Christian framework are welcome to participate here.

By the way, I was cited with two "infractions" for these two posts in favor of solipsism as compatible with authentic christianity, which caused me to be banned for two weeks.

Christ!

Struggling for words to describe what is going on at TheologyWeb.

Jackie Fox, venting in the Psychotherapy Room (for registered eyes only), was just too eloquent to pass up:

The Gang of nepotistic staff-participants here is incapable of winning an argument on a level playing field. Thus, they do not permit there to be one. Application of rules is a variation of the old "if you're white you're all right; if you're brown stick around; and if you're black stay in the back" pattern only ideology is the defining characteristic. Thus a member of an out-group is penalized for "thread derailment" while members of the in crowd commit the same offense willy-nilly without so much as a by your leave. I have become convinced this has got to be a parody religious right site people like the Onion and Funny or Die or something like this created as a piece of performance art.

In her bio, Jackie describes herself as a lawyer. :D

cirisme, is a Charter Member and Chancellor with 23,755 posts, whose bio includes:
Occupation: Ruling TWeb With an Iron Fist
Beliefs:
Eschatology: Futurist , Pre-wrath Rapture
Various: Cessationist , Eternal Torment in Hell

He replies,

I think 95% of your problem is that you just refuse to understand how the rules work.

Christ!

You registered at the aforementioned website with the full intention of seeing what type of trouble you could cause.

That is not Christ-like. That is not being enlightened. That isn't even been moderately intelligent.

Your actions are immature, childish and brightly display your lack of character.

Quote from I am...:

No. I just told them that they could gain 3x the daily GNP of the whole world by naming and claiming equality with *Our Father*. But if they tried to gain the whole world they would lose their souls to the diabolic decibles of devilish diatribe determined to delude them out of their divine due.

Christ!:D

Sweet, I hereby proclaim myself equal to God in every way.

Perhaps, but f**n funny to:D

I guess the irony that jeburs christ did exactly the same thing by claiming to be god, starting a cult that somehow got vast numbers of its followers killed not being labelled" immature, or at least irresponsible, even childish and lacking character, is lost on some people.

OK Overlord! I went to the site and registered, posted about things and got a personal message from somebody that wanted to know more... so far, not the expected reaction. The thing is those people are intellectually trying to figure out spiritual things and I'm spiritually making real sure I don't get into the intellectual things because you said in your book [Kudos on the world's all time best selling Book btw] that the Word [which can mean both Yourself and the Book] is spiritually discerned... so far I'm doing fine really, nice peaceful relation with the site so far... I guess I need to get busier and maybe meet some of those people head-on when it's obvious they will never get the spiritual discernment thingy down the way they are going... nothing like fools in their folly I always say... so fun to watch.. especially when they get red faced, arm waving mad like the guy I used to work with... he died of heart failure too, go figure..
