Quote from jem:
We really have no common ground. I believe the point of the bible is to describe the real God of the universe. And, that you can know who the real God of the universe is by seeing that he keeps the promises he made.
You seem to believe the exact opposite. If you wish to prove your beliefs by showing the bible to be internally inconsistent, we can have a debate. So far, I am not in agreement with your interpretation. I suspect this will happen over and over.
Yes, the bible describes the god of "the universe", so-called. In the enlightened language of Jesus, it's called, the "god-of-this-world". The universe is it's "works". But that is not the *Our Father* of Jesus. From the very first sentence, the bible supports the god-of-this-world! Therefore, it is a false witness against *Our Father* and His Son. So, yah, there is not much common ground because there is no common ground between Our Father and the god-of-this-world...except that the god-of-this-world
takes [think: identity theft] it's existence from the power of God...power given to it by
your belief in it. Your belief in the god-of-this-world is belief taken from Christ...that is,
unbelief in Christ. If blood were a metaphor for power, it could be said that the god of this world "lives" off of the "blood" of a dead Christ. When you give credence to the god-of-this-world, you offer the blood of Christ to an idol...that it may live.
Why do you do this? Because your own existence as a human, or as an elf, is wholly vested in the existence of the idol that is the god-of-this-world. If it goes down, you go down...if it dies, you die....as a human or elf. So you are doing everything you can to uphold it. Since the bible supports the idol by every kind of propaganda and hypnotic spell casting, you are also in support of the bible. Its simply a matter of motive. Your motive is to exist...to fight for survival. Ironically, that is the same motive as the god-of-this-world. It can't do this by force, because you are greater than it. So it must do this by deception.
You should know that the god of the universe has stolen its domain and attempts to foist it off as the Kingdom of God. Well, its not. So there's no common ground. One is of matter and limitations, the other is of spirit and no limits.
Jesus was all about destroying the "works" of the god of this world...making the universe "pass away"...making it go back to the nothingness from which it came. There is no common ground between the "Kingdom of God" and "the world".
Christ!
