How can I Reset TWS Configuration to Default?

I have managed to make a mess of my TWS windows and I would kind of like to start fresh. I can always mess it all up again later if I want it that way, right? But anyway, is there an easy way to do this?

I believe the only way is to download TWS again from the web -- much easier than it sounds, in my experience.

After that, suggest you keep a renamed copy of the new Jts dir, for use the next time you want to start anew.

NB: rm/rename the current Jts dir before TWS download, otherwise I think the install will reuse it.

If you want to keep your old, local charts, copy the old 'Jts/charts' to the new one.

Also, the (expanded?) TWS login interface enables you to choose the Jts dir before TWS loads.

I have not tried this, but it seems like it should work:

1. Run TWS
2. File-->Save Settings As
3. Note the folder that it wants to save the settings to
4. Exit TWS
5. Go to the settings folder
6. Make a backup of this folder somewhere else on your machine
6. Delete all tws*.xml files (like tws.xml, tws.Mon.xml, ...)
7. Run TWS
8. Did it work?

Good luck!

You may be able to restore to a previously good configuration using:

File-->Layout/Settings Recovery...

It probably WILL work. Haven't had time to scratch my nutz today. I have been busier than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I already told Mrs Monster about her honeydew list... she can just stick it for tomorrow, and my orders will all have to wait. Lucky me, I didn't get any today so far. Right now I am relaxing with a hookah and a nice old fashioned and all is right in the world for the moment.

Local files all went away when I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 from scratch the day after the April 20 release. I don't know about on the server. I think I cleaned stuff up last year. Anyway it's gonna happen tomorrow.

Nope. Same big mess.

Okay I give up. I used the layout library to pick out a couple of standard layouts and set them up as tabs in one of the windows. I will work from there. This should be a thing.
