RenTech's longest and most successful fund is ... the closed employee-owned Medallion Fund.Suppose that you owned a firm with various tiers of fund offerings to different tiers of clients.
Now when your firm buys a stock suppose that you wait for the returns to materialize, and then based upon the returns, you appropriate the stock to a selected fund.
I have no evidence if that was done at Renaissance, but that would be a very quantitative and mathematical way to show outsized returns in one selected fund.
