Hog/spear hunting

Hi there,

In order to spear the hogs it all depends on the size of it and also on how longthe shaft is to my cold steel spear.There are always options to go in " Stealth" mode or camo up in ordert to spear the beast when it is not expecting it. My cold steel spear ( new version ) has a 1 ft blade and a 10 ft shaft so obviously have to get within 11ft of it in order to thrust the spear into it. Cant seem to find many options in the US to spear a HUGE hog so we are looking at maybe going overseas to check out other options.

Any suggestions anyone?

You could try going over to the Rancho del Rosie O'Donnell. I am pretty sure there is at least one 350 pound hog over there.

Although my favourite sport is Hog/spearhunting I also enjoy many other outdoor sports ( my grandfather used to be a trapper in Canada ).
 
Thanks yes.I guess its why this sport of spearhunting/hog hunting is appealing , its the risks involved thats the rush, rather akin to trading. Plus its a outdoor sport which gets one away from the screens etc... and is a true challenge Man v beast with nothing but a spear deciding upon the outcome.
 
Hahahah radioactive boars!!! Never been to Japan.However, my buddy and I did go to Kenya in 2012 bowhunting huge Baboons. Let me tell you that is one challenging sport as the Baboons are not stupid as as soon as they see you with the bow drawn they try to run instantly unless you can catch it unaware with a head shot etc..... Great food/wines in Kenya too
 
A wild boar has a thick protective gristle plate over its shoulders to protect it in fights. I could see a spear glancing off that, with bad results for the spear wielder. Getting your leg slashed with five inch cutters is no joke.





Wouldn't want to take on this one with a spear.

Yes some Boars sure can be tough to spear with a quick thrust into the guts/lungs or ideally the heart.Another way spearhunting is like trading is Boar hunting has often been a test of bravery, like trading can be likened too.

Its a man v beast duel ( winner takes all etc.. ) pure pig-sticking is what we also do on horses.

The horse enjoys it, see how the boar himself, mad with rage, rushes wholeheartedly into the scrap and with your temper thoroughly roused, enjoy the opportunity of wreaking it to the full. Yes, hog-hunting is a brutal sport—and yet I love it, as I love also the fine old fellow I fought/fight against. Not only is boar/pig-sticking the most exciting and enjoyable sport for both the man and horse as well, but I really believe that the boar enjoys it too.
