Heaven is a fairy tale, says physicist Hawking

..and a tuner needs what ...a creator or another tuner....

Infinite regress ..... "engaging in serious discussing".. Lol.

I got a feeling we've travelled down this road before. :D

Like I tried to do earlier, why don't we try to bring this discussion back to the topic of the thread? What Hawking actually said was that heaven is a fairy tale.

For all you believers out there, what is your opinion on heaven and hell? The universe having a creator is quite different from the existence of heaven and hell.

true but both concepts owe their conception to a series of books written by stone age sheep herders. without the so called holy books neither of these ideas could stand on any available evidence.

.........he told the Guardian newspaper, ".......There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

Since people back then had no Cable TV, Newspapers, Internet or Radio they were REALLY GOOD at getting together and telling tales. Some of those fairy tales were so GOOD they came to be in an anthology. They call it the Good Book.

Quote from Kassz007:

It's amazing how you can take an entire passage from a book that explains why there is no creator, read one simple sentence (our universe looks extraordinarily fine tuned), and somehow determine that this means a creator exists.

I think you are delusional, and unable to see the other side of the argument.

Just keep on donating to the pot every Sunday at church and you will be happy for all eternity.
:D

Your critique is childish. You have no idea if I have read the book.

If you had any intellectual integrity you would attempt to explain why I am wrong.

Academics, particularly those with physics degrees don't have sloppy paragraphs when they are that important. If our universe did not appear designed --- Hawking and Susskind and others would say our universe does not appear designed and explain why.

Actually, Business insider had a special not so long on people with high IQ's and Hawking 'only' had one of 160 or so.

I am not an expert on the matter but I don't think that will rank you as the smartest guy in the world I think.

Anyway, there were others with many higher then 160 in the list.

Yahoo was talking about IQs a few months ago.
Most of the info was self reported.

Many IQ tests are not that refined.... once you get over 150... they say over 150 or outside test parameters.

I suggest if you get an "outside test parameters" you are unlikely to want to take another test.

I suggest few, who hit that mark would feel the need to take another test.
