American liberals have given us gold plated socialized medicine for a few, who happen to be the sickest, most unproductive people (very old, very stupid, disabled) in the form of medicaid and medicare. They are both used as examples of good government by the democrats when in fact they are examples of the very problem we are seeking to avoid. They are both exploding in cost and exploding the national debt. They are examples of bloated bureaucracy subsidizing very unproductive behaviors among citizens and hurting the economic vitality that they want to leech off.
What is the morality in keeping an 80 year old on full life support all the while billing the younger generations to the tune of $300K per year? What is the morality that says if you are profoundly retarded you have claim on all the resources you need for your entire life while others must toil to support you? Unlike democrats who love to trot out sob story anecdotes which are largely pointless in making policy for everyone else (think about the logic of making a one size fits all policy based upon the sob stories of a very few).... I am using the very examples that I know are bankrupting this country.
Why would anyone want to expand an entitlement that has been a financial failure? why? I think it is hate of freedom and capitalism. I think that you are seeing the product of the fact that the left has captured the social so-called-science departments across the country, because they lost the reality wars and retreated into academics. The likes of Obama were trained by these people so now obama naturally thinks this is the 'right' thing to do, it's obvious to him. Naturally the freedom that this country was founded on is wrong since it opposes socialism. The left's political religion has finally acquired power and it will do its thing.
The largest lie being foisted upon you today is that this will save money and the CBO estimates are accurate. Anyone who cares can read history and understand that any government program of this nature will never work the way lying politicians say it will. Americans never hold them to any standards anyway, it is long forgotten that the promises of medicare were not realized. Anyone with a functioning neuron knows the CBO cannot predict the future any better than anyone else, but alas all that matters are the left's feelings about 'doing the right thing'.
Freedom is all about being independent from the government, the United States became a great nation because of freedom, not socialized anything. Maybe it's fitting we go down this way, we have become a bunch of scared, weak minded, selfish, demanding children who given the circumstances of 1775 would not have initiated a revolution anyway. We would pull a Sweden and go neutral in the face of obvious choices.
