Click the link for welfare, it did not mean what it does today when this document was written.

It is also not the only Constitutional issue. There is no way whatsoever to interpret any power of Congress as being able to FORCE anyone onto a federal program through the consequences of fines and/or imprisonment. That mandate is in the bill.

In fact go ahead and read Article I section 9, there is a limit on Congress that reads: No bill of Attainder or ex post facto law shall be passed. Click on Attainder, it appears that this mandate is SPECIFICALLY illegal.

The President was a constitutional professor,I'll side with him that its constitutional

Did you not see the word/s health and well being ?

I'll post this again

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

There was a crisis with raising health costs before Pelosi,but you're trying to blame pelosi for your health ins going up

Make up your mind will ya , when before pelosi did health care become a crisis?

Besides I was talking about peelosi making future health care and
ins rates going up as a direct result of her administration actions.

Why play games? We both know what the rest of the definition says. Now try reading it over with your eyes open.

Oh puhleeze he sees what he wants to see and that's a vote buying mechanism with OPM, NOT UNLIKE YOUR immoral desire for others to foot your bills.

Welfare in today's context also means organized efforts on the part of public or private organizations to benefit the poor, or simply public assistance. This is not the meaning of the word as used in the Constitution.

Btw,the second quote sounds like an opinion

It looks like it is stated as a fact to me. Your interpretation that it means we are all to foot the bill for the uninsured sounds like an opinion. This site was also up long before this debate began, and I read this exact def like 2 years ago and it is the same today.

What about the other issue?
