If you're looking at a resume from Harvard and know that Harvard blacks on average had test scores that are a standard deviation lower than Harvard Asians, of course if is going to affect your decision. You can't force people not to think.

That's true, but it proves nothing. This is rarified intellectual territory, where a 98th percentile student could fall behind (although such schools tend not to flunk people out) because the people around him are more formidable.
Average is 50th percentile. It has nothing to do with the issue.
