They have a lower firearm related death rate than the US.
Mexico homicide rate much higher than U.S...6.34 vs. 3.43 (Wikipedia)! The U.S. has a much higher suicide rate...go figure...the country with more wealth.
And I'm sure all firearm deaths are reported. That's the ticket. Mexico, with all it's cartel violence...the cartels are using nerf guns.
The point is, it's still a big problem. The people who want to do it, do it. The law isn't their concern. Safety is, and you could have accomplished the same improvement with increased awareness. I'll bet states that don't have the law saw increased safe driving as well.
