Grim future for day trading as a career

wrbtrader you have clearly internalized a lot of fear and self-doubt about your abilities as a day trader and the future direction of PA at < daily chart timeframes. You can't and haven't for decades been able to support yourself with an income as a day trader so you come on here defending day traders and preaching feel-good and verbose justifications for the unjustifiable.

Perhaps I am mistaken, if discretionary day trading is a sustainable career I think it would be a great step in trading ethics if NoDoji switched from a pay to a free trading room, you could run one as well, calling trades at the intraday level on multiple futures markets and exchanging advice freely. It will be the wikipedia for day traders and I look forward to donating to keep it running and learn from you two and eventually teaching others as well.

You do not know me and yes everything you have stated...you are mistaken. Therefore, you do not need to apologize.

Also, I did not "come here". I was here long "before" you. Thus, you came here preaching several individuals have done you wrong and showing up in certain threads in an attempt to change the topic in those threads to a discussion about those individuals.

Ok, we get it and let it slide because the individuals you named...most here do not like.

Next, you attack trading while you're a trader. Next, you attack retail trading while you're a retail trader. Now, you attack discretionary trading while you're discretionary trading. Simply, something doesn't add up about you but its no longer important this game you play.

Therefore, we get that too but apparently you don't get it. We understand the contradictions and conflicts you have as a trader via reading your words.

That's the nature of this forum for us long time members. We've seen many just like you come here and go long before you. We know your type after your very first few message posts at this forum. That's something you apparently underestimated...the history here at this forum and its members...something I warned you about upon your arrival in your first attempt to attack someone that most here have already grown tired of attacking.

Therefore, we'll still be here trading and have no shame identifying ourselves as retail traders in contrast to your ability to do the same. Trading is tough by itself...no need to make it tougher with a persona like you.

P.S. Be careful in your continuation of isolating yourself because good traders have a strong network.

I agree it was an untradable, rare event, but if you look it stopped just at the right supply level.

HFT doesn't change the laws of supply and demand.
I got hit as well. In and out (with a loss) in seconds. Turned off my algos after it for a bit for things to calm down. Have not seen such thing for a while. Monday overall was very bad for me.

RedDuke,

You open and closed you trade "during" the spike ? If so, did you use any automation on entry or exit or was it all manual trading ?

I know some that were already in a position when the spike occurred and they exited in the spike. I also know others that enter in the spike but they exited after the retracement.

If you did all of that manually and "during" the spike...congrats because that's an incredible trading reflex.

P.S. Spike was initially stated as a news event but later updated as an order error (fat finger) by an institutional trading firm (computer or human)...info by a managing director at an institutional trading firm. My opinion, if an error...probably intentional.

Round and round we go.

Seriously, why do you care? Anyone worth their salt in this arena won't take your word for it or anyone else's. They'll find out for themselves, one way or the other. And what's the magic of your time frame vs. someone else's? You come across as an ideologue.

Prop firm traders can and do definitely make a career. My contention is that DIY at home retail careerers dont really exist unless they are wealthy to begin with or have another passive source of income.

After 10 years of trying to meet one and not suceeding is a huge tell that its all fantasy.

hi marketsurfer

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT.

just want you to know, your reference website, as shown below is down and out.

what happpens?

http://www.intrendx.com

i thought for sure after so many years on site here at et,
you surely have come across several, if not many, successful
small retail traders, without a doubt.

but perhaps, you were hoping and looking for a certain type of
small retail trader that might fit nicely and squarely to your
personal preferences and prototypes and any other kind,
just won't do? could that be, just maybe.... LOL?

lighten up, comrade.

i can almost practically, virtually and humanly guarantee that there
are such detestable consistently profitable trading minorities on board here,
but they might be just too preoccupied for reasons of their own,
to want to say or post anything.... good bad or ugly about
trading profitably and consistently....

perhaps, several would be more inclined to reveal their trading whatever;
if ever, there was less knock-down postings around here?

the attachment is just for your trading enlightenment fun and pleasure
without anything of value pertaining to trading advices implied or otherwise.

enjoy and wish everyone success trading whatever markets today,
or whatever is left of today.

I wish I had such reflexes :) Our futures trading is fully automated. We were in and out before I could basically take few breaths. Just cost of doing the business.

some would probably enjoy the frequent rebound to the high of the day,

just before 10 am high. no one, absolutely no one knows for sure!

regardless, enjoy. and thx for your time and indulgence. chow.
