You know how BenQ announced a couple of months ago that they were coming out with an LCD monitor with a 5-millisecond response time? Yeah, well ViewSonic must have felt a little messed with, because they just threw down today with two new LCD monitors aimed at hardcore gamers that each have a megafast response time of just 4-milliseconds.

I don't have a DPA, and I don't think you need one.

Dell has regular (personal), and small business site. Go to Dell, click on "Small Business", and use the coupon. I ordered two, the price came out correct, and I had no problems.

I signed up for a DPA, but it didn't change the price.

I entered the coupon a 2nd time and still did not get the correct price.... 30 minutes ago. Maybe the $299 deal has been replaced with the $374 deal?

Guys,

IMHO refresh rate don't mean jack (unless it is something ridiculous) if you are looking at text and charts, so my advice would be to go for these 19 inch Dell monitors.

I use a 20inch EIZO (the new L887) and it is absolutely magnificent (got used to EIZO at a previous firm where they were the monitor of choice - no expenses spared). Where I currently work they favor the Dell 19 inch. Have been very impressed with these, I am actually surprised how well they work off the standard analog VGA output from the Dell Optiplexes.

Of course by gaming standards their refresh rates are crap - but that was not their intended use.

I'm in the market for a second monitor, but since this will not be the primary monitor in the setup I'm looking for something cheaper.

Has anyone compared the 20inch Dell to the 19 inch Dell? Considering I can buy about 4 19inch or 3 20inch for the price of a 20inch EIZO?

I'd like to have 2 - 20 inch monitors, but don't know how good the 20 inch Dell is (the 19 will be OK even next to the magnificent EIZO).

Cheers.
I'm not as impressed with the 20". It is not as crisp and bright at the 1905FP. Also, the 20" has not been updated like the 1905FP has (used to be 1901FP). It is still one of the best 20" monitors out there. I prefer the 19" though.

Thanks for your reply FuturesTrader71.
Much appreciated - I think I'll get the 19inch as a second monitor then - for the price it can't be beat - plus I use them at work so I know what they are like.

I gather the crispness might have something to do with having almost double the contrast ratio of the 20 inch model!

Cheers, atavachron.

The 1905FP produces a very sharp picture even in VGA mode. The 20" is not as bright. Don't get me wrong. It is a great monitor. I just think that the 19" is a better choice.

OK now. I hadn't selected to download the coupons I for which I would be eligible.

1. Dell's website says the DPA is for personal and home use only, yet this offer is through SB. ??

2. I tried the coupon code, BV9QW3GBZBNGCG, but didn't get the discount during checkout. Anyone know about that?

TIA

1. :( That’s why I said Try this one … … But I’m not 100% sure since I haven’t tried it. :)

2. 40% off code BV9QW3GBZBNGCG is still working at SB site now – it’s a better deal ($299 + tax, free shipping) than what you could get at Home/HO site at the present (could change anytime though):

Dell Home - 20% off 19" 1905FP Code: G5PXQP8D0ZKF4N
$55 off $500 Code: SGJGC$B6SVW3FD (exp 4/13 5:59am CT, limit 2000 uses) - *need to add $1+ something for 1905FP*
Extra $35 off with DPA code: ?2V5GDM8W?4444
1905FP $499 - 20% - $55* - $35 + $13 shipping= $322 (might save you on tax though)

Happy shopping! :)
