We're in different times... a rebound from times of political correctness. I don't know how much things have fundamentally changed. Even look at movies out like Borat now --- (which on one level I liked, on another I was a little disturbed with).
I know Sasha Cohen is jewish, but I think he crosses the line a little too far with all this 'jew' rhetoric ... seeing him on Jay Leno throwing this around was just a little disconcerting. On one hand, we all know he is supposed to be mocking the anti-semitic, but I'm honestly not sure middle america (nor even coastal) truly gets it. It almost seems to me a permission slip to hate, and not very productive. So I think the potential damage out there might be a little greater than what we get out of the humor.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you simply don't understand the glaringly obvious fact that there is no comparison between a black man using the word 'honky' which no white person gives a damn about and a white man using the word nigger which is representative of the white man's enslavement of the blacks in America. You do recall that blacks were slaves and not allowed to drink at the same fountain as a white, pretty recently, right? Do you also recall that whites were not enslaved by blacks and that blacks did not chain whites and whip them, rape their women, cut their children's throats and call them honky?
Again... it's suggestions like this, that a black's use of honky is equivalent to a white's use of the N word, that undermines the apologists here. To suggest that honky is as racially charged as the N word is so absurd that one has to believe that anyone who suggests it knows it's a load of shit, but they're saying it anyway. At least try to make your claims using an argument that isn't blatantly wrong.

Personally I find calling someone a tag name a cheap insult. "Hey fatso!" How original. But we ALL use such terms. How many times does a woman cut us off and now suddenly become a "bitch" or "cunt."
Expecting people to contemplate the use of use language connotatively is onerous. I used "shine" in this thread. I guess there's now a dreaded "s" word also. Will the PC police please chirp in and tell me if there's any other banned words one should be aware of?
