Yeah the PGA stats are almost a science unto themselves... but either way B1 is saying that he is averaging 31 putts per round total and there is no way on God's green earth he's doing that. And honestly, for him to even say this... portends a level of naivety about the game that makes this entire narrative of his personal golf commentary... quite suspect.
But the guy only hits 4 GIR's. Assuming he averages around 2 putts per GIR, there's 8. On the other 14 holes, he has 23 putts. Gets up in down a little bit less than half the time. He probably isn't even doing that but I can see low 30's putts per round if a guy basically misses almost all of the greens.
Another problem with the stats is that on some courses you might play fairways 40-50 yards wide (especially resort courses), whereas on a tree lined old country club some of those fairways will be half the width. Likewise, greens on older courses can tend to be on the small size and hence less GIR's. I've played courses back in the day (especially the resort ones) where they might be loaded with bunkers, water, etc but it was all just eye candy. They weren't really in play with the enormous fairways and greens and you could conceivably hit just about every fairway and every green, but it would also be very difficult to have 31 putts if you did so.
