Going to NY in 2.5 weeks

Quote from R. Raskolnikov:

I'm sure a Tad's steak isn't terrible but not worth seeking out if the dude is in town for a few days and looking for a good steak. :D

We skipped out on the Tad's experience lol

I gotta agree with this guy, surf; I'm horribly underwhelmed by the palm (both in philly and in nyc)....

And white castle is awesome. I don't care what anyone says.

The Palm sucks IMO, went there earlier this year and the steak was not very good. Was pretty disappointed.

The cab ride took forever and ended up costing like $65.

How did that happen?? It's usually around $40... $65 is enough to get home from JFK.

My steak at the Palm was soggy....where is that nice deep seared outer layer?
The Palm is overated IMO, I guess just surviving on tradition or something.

Palm started out as an Italian restaurant, I agree they do lack consistency with the steaks, but when they are good, they are great... Their club members get a free giant lobster on their birthdays, so that keeps me coming back for more!

I agree with the second part of your post about Tads-- its only worth what it costs, but its not as bad as one would suspect. Everyone should give it a try if they are on a budget---

interesting, while I have had a bad experience there with the food and its inconsistent, I really like the one in Philly-- like it better than the other steak choices near Walnut--- in NYC I agree there are much better places.....

As soon as you enter the restaurant in Philly, look to your right, my fat face portrait is directly next to Mario Andretti--- from back in the day when i was a party boy. LOL

surf:D :D

I can understand that (free lobster), and as far as the Palm I only went once but when you are paying $50 for a steak, one bad one is enough to not go back, especially given the abundance of great steakhouses here in Manhattan.

Went to a place called Empire Steak House last week with a fellow trader and we split the Porterhouse for two....thought it was damn good.

I have never been to the either of the Palms in NYC--- I tend to agree, with that huge choice selection-- Many likely have it beat--

however, in Philly and in the Hamptons its the best imho..

Thanks for the tip, I'll check that Empire out.

Another relatively inexpensive place I like is Ted Turner's Restaurant in midtown-- awesome burgers and steaks ( bison if you want it) and not overly expensive. Anna says its too "freshly killed" tasting for her, but I love it.
