wtf are you talking about :) It's not the 90's anymore... time sq is GAINT lit up zoo of tourists at night; The only danger you'll face is find yourself stuck behind three groups of german families trying to take pictures

Why not? Times Square is a vastly different animal today than it was, say 10 or 20 years ago. And it's lit up brighter than noontime on a sunny day. A perfect dosage of New York nightime culture, IMO.
 
so we don't get mugged? lol probably solid advice. The time before that I went, there seemed to be some sketchy people out walking around at night. Walked past a table set up with pot pipes and stuff on it, and there was a guy standing in an alley holding out a joint just staring at everyone walking by. I thought it was kinda funny lol, but definitely don't want to get jumped or anything in the wrong area
 
That guy is either being funny or 20 years behind; Time sq is just about the safest place in nyc; stay below 96th st and east of 8th ave; Relax. Nothing bad will happen to you.

Good point... the only thing I can think of are the little streets marked as 'Lanes' below houston.

Should have worded that better. Not an alley, it was like a recessed spot in a building. There was a door at the back of it.

I felt pretty safe last time lol. Safety wasn't much of a concern at least. I'm 20, 6'5" and fit. Not that that would stop someone of course but I felt pretty comfortable
 
I'd say we will only go to a pretty fancy place for dinner one or two nights. What are your all's suggestions? I love steak lol, but I am open to whatever. I would rather not go broke though either just something nice is all
