Why trade pairs unless you are poor or lack access? The 6E for example makes more sense. The word Forex needs to be banned from this site, just like penny stock, CFD or other phony retail instruments, The word is nectar to trouble-- if the trolls stayed on the FX threads I could care less, but once they smell the site, they move onto other threads ruining them in the process. You seem to confuse forex with bucket shops. The fact that there are many crappy forex bucket shops around doesn't mean market itself is somewhat inferior.
Reason to trade spot for me was deal cost. I traded with a broker where total cost was about 1 pip/rt while trading 6E I would pay approximately 1.4 (including commission) assuming buying ask and selling bid, which I normally do. Multiply that by 40 trades a month and you get serious reason to trade spot.
Also there are some larger ECN-based FX brokers, such as Dukascopy, which offer access to amazingly deep liquidity and deal cost there is still cheaper than 6E. So why not? Keep your mind open, don't let the "forex is something wrong" stereotype obsess you. It's not forex which is wrong, just certain shady companies which offer access to trading FX quotes.

Meh, Surf has not done his homework on this. If/when he does, he will drop futures like a hooker with warts.
Actually, hypostomus was here long before there were any areas of the forum dedicated to forex. So my research proves you wrong. And now i'm beginning to think you are another of hypostomus' many aliases, most of which have been trolling since before this forum started to give any attention to forex. Perhaps you are not getting as much attention as you have been used to since people started paying attention to forex here.
