Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
Almirola had a meltdown and stormed off.
A bad deal all around 'image wise' for JGR.
Rockwell had people at the race and expected to see Denny in the car they sponsor - clearly an understandable situation. However, the reason for the delay (from what I hear) stemmed from the inability of Denny's helo to to land on the pad. Why? Because someone thought it a bright idea to park a bunch of cars on the landing pad!
As to why Almirola stormed off bent out of shape, I have no idea. He knew from earlier in the week his job was to stay warmed up in the bull pen, and that Denny's job was to drive the car in the race. If not for a dim witted parking lot attendant, Almirola never starts the race.
Besides, it isn't like Hamlin finished 6 laps down. He won the thing from a lap down.
However, what I find most interesting about the whole weekend was not Montoya's win, nor Hamlin's brilliant charge to the front, but rather, Dodge's ability to travel more miles with fuel mileage than the previous year on a fuel cell that is 4 gallons smaller than the previous year.
Maybe NASCAR should inspect Juan's gas tank as closely as they inspected Jeff and Jimmy's bumper.
