Michigan Pre-Race

Ninety minutes of Pre-Race crap. WTF. I'm absolutely thrilled I decided to to sell my tickets. If this thing goes Green, White, Checker (and I don't mean 'extra innings') like when Jarret last won here. people will start passing out in the stands from today's heat and humidity.

Raikkonen - on his way out of Ferrari?

KIMI SET FOR FERRARI EXIT

Kimi Raikkonen could be on his way out of Ferrari at the end of this
season, according to reports.

Germany's Auto-Bild-Motorsport said the beleaguered Maranello team are
already on the lookout for the Finn's successor after his poor start
to the season and failure to live up to his billing as the highest
earning F1 racer following his switch from McLaren for 2007.

Not only is the 27-year-old struggling to keep up with Felipe Massa in
the other F2007, but there are also concerns about the number of
errors he's making, and an apparent lack of focus.

Auto-Bild-Motorsport speculate that Michael Schumacher could come out
of retirement to replace Raikkonen, while McLaren's unsettled Fernando
Alonso or Williams' highly-rated Nico Rosberg could also be in the
running to replace the Finn. However, as of last evening speculation has
centered on legendary American driver Sterling Marlin. Marlin has long
been rumored to be interested in giving Formula 1 a try and it is no
secret that Ferrari would love to get a 2 for 1 and bring along
Michael "Fatback" McSwain as a technical advisor for Marlin and
Ferrari.

So is it the Sprint Cup Series next year or what? The local news channel just said it was changing, some websites claim "sources" confirm it, yet nothing on the NASCAR.com site.
Too many name changes... when's the "Winston Cup" coming back? :)

NASCAR.com is probably the last place one wants to look for information. :D :D :D

NASCAR's top series to be renamed Sprint Cup in 2008: Beginning with the 2008 season, Sprint will replace Nextel as title sponsor of NASCAR's premiere racing series, multiple high-ranking industry sources told ESPN.com on condition of anonymity. The series will be known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, sources said. NASCAR declined comment. Dean Kessel, Sprint's NASCAR marketing director, denied the claims, and said Sprint/Nextel is still sorting the proposition out with NASCAR. Kessel also said that multiple outstanding details must be finalized internally before a decision can be made either way. This would mark the third name since 2003 for NASCAR's Cup Series. From 1972-2003, the Cup Series was sponsored by R.J. Reynolds tobacco through its Winston cigarette brand. Then, starting in 2004, Nextel assumed the naming rights to the most popular racing series in the United States. Sprint and Nextel agreed to a $36 billion merger in December 2004.
