Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!!

Quote from Spydertrader:

A quick glance at the Nextel Open Entry List, and I like the chances of "Front Row" Joe Nemechek and Robby Gordon. Of course, I'll be rooting for perennial underdog Kirk Shelmerdine to somehow luck his way in or receive the Fan Vote for the Wildcard Entry. I attended this race the year NASCAR started the race while rain continued to fall in Turns One and Two. The miscue resulted in a big wreck right as the race started. NASCAR permitted several drivers to use their backup cars, and restarted the race. Jeff Gordon ended up winning in his back up ride.

I remember that one. What a scam. They let him bring in a totally new car after the race had started...or not.

Watch for the 11 to go to the front and stay there. That kid can drive a race car.

Knaus/Hendrick: No Negotiations: Chad Knaus was left out of the recent round of contract extensions at Hendrick Motorsports, and the crew chief said Friday he's not received indication that he'll get one. "I love my job. I love my team. I love it at Hendrick Motorsports," Knaus said during preparations for the Nextel All-Star Challenge. "But no one has talked to me about staying beyond 2007." Driver #48-Jimmie Johnson and sponsor Lowe's both signed three-year extensions this week that keep them with Hendrick through the 2010 season. But Knaus is still working under his old deal, which expires at the end of next year. Knaus was included in the last round of extensions, which came in May, 2003. Not getting one this week created speculation through the garage that something was amiss.
