FDA is set to decline new emergency use authorizations for COVID-19 vaccines

  • The FDA has said yesterday it may turn down emergency use authorization (EUA) requests for COVID-19 vaccines for the remainderof the pandemic if the developers have not already begun discussions with the regulator, Reuters reported.
  • Under a EUA, the FDA facilitates the availability and use of unapproved medical products including vaccines during public health emergencies, such as a pandemic.
  • Currently, three COVID-19 vaccines have received FDA’s emergency use approval: Messenger-RNA-based COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer(NYSE:PFE)/(NASDAQ:BNTX)and Moderna(NASDAQ:MRNA), Adenovirus-based vaccine from Johnson & Johnson(NYSE:JNJ).
  • Meanwhile, AstraZeneca(NASDAQ:AZN)is reportedly seeking full approval for its vector-based vaccine skipping a EUA.
  • Novavax(NASDAQ:NVAX)has previously said, the company has started talks with the FDA for emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine. However, Novavax has pushed back the timeline for its regulatory submission from Q2 2021 to Q3 2021.

Regeneron shares could gain 5 – 10% on FDA approval for antibody test: Benchmark

  • Regeneron Pharmaceuticals(NASDAQ:REGN)could rise by 5 – 10% subject to FDA approval for low dose antibody product for Covid-19, Benchmark analyst Aydin Huseynov writes.
  • Regeneron is trading ~0.4% higher in the pre-market in below-average volume.
  • With a higher dose product already available, “the FDA does not appear to be in a rush” notes the analyst predicting approximately ~$1B difference for Regeneron’s Q2 sales based on the timing of the low-dose cocktail.
  • Asked about the emergency use authorization for the product, Regeneron CEO Leonard Schleifer said on the recent earnings call: “we anticipate an action by the FDA over the next – sometime in the next several weeks.”

There are some good stocks I sold because they were tech. Weighting wise I had far too much as the sectors turned against me-- so let go of some good ones that were going down.. (SAIL & 8X8)

i've been accumulating GHVI on market sell-off days at about 11.50/share or under over several months, so i had a bunch, but i sold the majority of them on the rise last week. i didn't think it would keep rising, i thought i'd be buying more at $10.50 asap, so i misread it.

the other ones from the thread that i've been buying on sell-offs are coupang CPNG, weird australian thing ASX:SES, and Gamida GMDA. thus far i've been burned by Gamida for buying the dip on it, but i think it's because all its events aren't happening until Q4 so the market has been strangling it on lack of news.
