Boy you know you have lost it when you sell a stock to raise money just before a huge market puke- protecting a gain- and that's the only stock up on your board... Except the pasta sauce. Walgreens.. they sell those stride-rite shoes.
I'm a conspiracy theory guy))))) so my take is that the large banks know the smaller banks can be absorbed now and they can go over their restrictions in size and that has created a feeding frenzy of sorts in which mysterious big banks push down the price of the regional banks and even though their underling business is not bad and then scoop up high net worth mortgages and loans at 60-80 cents on the dollar that weren't about to bust anyway. So in the end we suddenly have like eighteen very very very large Banks/ firms like Blackrock etc.
The bad news- this rips at the very fabric of small town America.
The Good News- Huge banks look very very good.
