Nutrien reiterates potential for raising potash production in supply crunch

Nutrien (NYSE:NTR) is weighing the possibility of increasing its potash production in the coming years to address the global shortfall, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The world's largest fertilizer company already is raising production by 1Mtons this year to a total of 15M tons, and Chief Strategy Officer Mark Thompson told a virtual industry conference that Nutrien (NTR) could make 18M tons of potash if it boosted capacity in increments over a period of 1-3 years.

"We're looking and assessing right now about what a ramp up would look like in the next couple of years to begin to bring more production in the market," Thompson said, according to Bloomberg.
 
White House announces actions to address baby formula shortage

Update:The White House announced a raft of measures to alleviate the ongoing baby formula shortage across the country on Thursday. The announcement follows a virtual meeting held by President Joe Biden with heads of the companies including Reckitt Benckiser (OTCPK:RBGPF) (OTCPK:RBGLY), Target Corporation (TGT), and Walmart (WMT).

The efforts to address price gauging, reduce red tape, ramp up production, and measures to support imports are among some of the actions announced,NBC News reported.

A senior administration official said that Biden would not invoke the Defense Production Act to accelerate production at this time, adding "we're going to keep every option on the table."
