- Enovix (NASDAQ:ENVX) said Wednesday it was awarded a follow-on contract to build and test custom cells for U.S. Army soldiers' central power source, called Conformal Wearable Battery.
- The CWB, which was created by Inventus Power, integrates into a soldier's vest and powersvital communications and navigation equipment.
- The project aims to evaluate performance and safety of Enovix 3D Silicon Li-ion cell technology, and its alignment to the CWB.
- The contract was awarded in conjunction with Inventus Power, which provides advanced battery and power systems and specializes in manufacture of lithium-ion battery packs.
- ENVX expects to start shipping first cells to Inventus in 2023.
- While the CWB is produced by Inventus at its U.S. manufacturing facility, cells for CWBs have traditionally been developed and sourced internationally.
- ENVX aims to manufacture CWB cells at its U.S. factory.
